  1. If you need to work in metric to be accurate in the current Plan, why not just display the Secondary Dimension with it set to mm? and use it to enter Dims, if needed in metric ( *make sure to type mm after the entered value otherwise Chief will assume inches.) And set the Primary Dim. to 2 place decimal Inches ( could use 1 dec. place if preferred. )
  2. I'm not sure it is, I haven't experienced that, not sure if new in X15 or I just haven't hit that particular situation so it might be worth submitting as the Vertical is not the top of the wall where a Cap should be. As for the Sill you can draw your own Brick Sill in Elevation ( closed CAD LINES ) and save it to you Library as a Molding Profile.
  3. Best answer............... Chief is assuming, like in so many cases, that the User has no clue what they are doing / want and they know better ....... it should do NOTHING to the floor below. bit like how Chief, when you name a room a Garage it automagically decides for you that you need a Monolithic Slab foundation .....grrrrrrrrr. M.
  4. Yep, it's pretty easy to fix in Chief one way or the other , I just don't think it should be happening in the 1st place ( same as the OP ) Mick.
  5. Yes your right, the Bug though is that the Porch ceiling is jumping up to 10' and should remain at 9' and be framing separately with its' own ceiling joists as you mention. M.
  6. Send it in to TS and ask them and so they log the Bug to be looked at....... as it appears the whole main floor has risen to 10' which shouldn't happen and forcing it back down will cause the porch ceiling to follow it down. Please post back if they provide a Solution.... M.
  7. Make your own....... a few Solids and convert to symbol ( Electrical if you want it to actually have a light source ).... These are a few I made over the last year or two..... MHD_Deck and Stair Lights.calibz
  8. Icon is on the Edit Toolbar and IIRC it has a 123 on it...... M.
  9. 1. You could leave that roof off and just let the walls continue up under the Overhang above 2. Barrel Roofs are Tricky , have a look at this for tips.......... ( the KB has many good short tutorials ) but in this case I'd use 2 roof planes , 1 for each half of the Barrel. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00649/creating-a-curved-barrel-roof.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00684/joining-a-barrel-roof-to-a-flat-roof-plane.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00688/joining-curved-roof-planes.html and https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/746/drawing-curved-and-barrel-roofs.html?playlist=95 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/709/compound-curved-roof.html?playlist=95 3. you want the roof to curve inward like the window wall? I thought the the current roof looked good myself and option might be a Barrel there too ( better weather protection) to match the Dining Room one. Mick.
  10. One other thing I noticed was that you have Spray Canned the Brick on your exterior Walls, a common new User mistake as while it looks like a brick wall, all you have really done is change the 3/4" Siding to a 3/4" layer of Brick and thus structurally etc it is not correct, ie Brick is about 3" thick. You should Set you default exterior Wall to the Correct Brick WallType eg Brick 6 and then change/Force each of the exterior walls to use the correct Walltype and material if needed. more info here :
  11. Hi Tracy, my guess is that Chief itself is just breaking the Walls due to the way they work ( they always join at their centers ) and the horizontal wall you have at 37 11/16 from the radius is causing the curved part to break as it is almost inline with where the radius'd wall meets the straight wall, at least once I removed that wall in my test plan everything seemed fine, if this is just the tub deck you could use a solid instead. Mick. .
  12. Not sure without a plan, did you try renumbering the schedule? it's not picking up a skylight or some other "custom" something is it? M.
  13. Can you convert the PDF to DWG , this can be done if the PDF is not an "image" , and then import it as a dwg instead which should give you more control over elements. M.
  14. Other Issues The "Wood Strips" you see are not your fault, Chief for some reason is auto-building those 3 roof planes 1/2 way through the wall , which destroys that brick work, they need to be pulled back out of the wall. there are also some reversed walls , ie showing the drywall on the outside click the wall and then on the reversing tool on the edit toolbar It is unlikely that on a roof this complex that Chief will ever auto build it completely as desired, there is no point fight it, and getting totally frustrated, as at some point you will need to go manual anyway. I always go Auto 1st , which gets me the basics in the 65% to 90% range and then finish it manually as needed. Mick.
  15. you didn't accidently auto build the Roofs at 0/12 or some other really low pitch instead of 12/12 did you? *** Having now looked at your plan the above is exactly what you've done , Chief resets this to 1/4" to ensure some slope being a Roof.
  16. Try messaging Rene Rabbitt , I know he was using one (Surface) at one point , but has moved to laptops now I believe. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/profile/10037-renerabbitt/ M.
  17. Not sure why you aren't seeing them there as in X15 they are present, did you try a test in a new Plan opened from Chief's X10 Residential template file? you could also make sure your Plan's Dimension Defaults are still the same as the Template file too. Sorry I don't have X10 installed to do any testing with...
  18. Chief is agnostic as far as the OS goes, ( it doesn't care ) so it is something else, you need to import a .calibz file which include the textures, not the just .calib file AFAIK Please do your Forum Signature ( see mine below) so we know what version of Chief and OS's you are working with as Answers frequently depend on the Version the User has. Mick.
  19. There are a few KB Articles that may help as well, all good info that will be useful well into the future : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00166/creating-and-editing-molding-profiles.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02791/using-molding-polylines-to-create-a-custom-column.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00166/creating-and-editing-molding-profiles.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00840/creating-a-custom-dentil-molding.html Mick.
  20. Happy to help if I can S. I appreciate the Thank You too, many don't bother these days... Mick.
  21. Try this Material I used last time below, there are a number of threads here on the Forum about Screened Porches , try a search.................... MHD_Screen Material.calibz Mick.
  22. I recommend you put this in your forum sig. so you don't need to do it every time you post a question....
  23. Make a 3D Molding Polyline perhaps if you have a lot to do, and apply it like a crown Molding or if just one side of room, Try a Polyline drawn in Elevation and then convert it to a Solid using the same material as the Ceiling Wall (Drywall) Mick
