Uncheck the box that says automatically regenerate deck framing.

Many will use a custom cad line symbol and arrow setup saved in their library and place over the cross section camera and turn the camera display off. But it’s not dynamic obviously so you need to do it once you are sure of your cross section locations.

Deck auto build is to build that certain way like you see. Anything outside of that will need some manual adjustments. First once you have your deck how you want it,build the deck with auto tools and open the dbx and click retain framing essentially turning the auto framing off. Second open the beam and move it to the right x y or z coordinates you want or if you turned off the beams you can manually place a new beam or as many do with flush beams is copy and paste, move existing joists to double or triple as needed. Place posts and footings manually or move the auto generated setting heights apppropriately.

What has me really excited about the m1 is that there is a rumor by a particular mac enthusiast that has been quite reliable in the past. He recently put out an article about a Mid-grade Mac Pro that will most likely be a m2 or m3 chip with an AMD GPU that supposedly will be on par with the "Highest level high-end GPUs on the market" in a form factor similar to the 6,1. at an intermediary price. - From what I glean from that it sounds like a mac mini pro version??? Anyways, I think my current setup will last me a couple more years as I don't do that much with renderings other than vector or an occasional basic pbr for clients to visualize only. If I need a good one I will hire @Renerabbitt. So hopefully that rumor will come about and I can upgrade when it does. Also allowing apple to work out any of the ARM M chip issues that I am sure will pop up.

That was not well written by me. We had a major power outage today so that was on my phone. What I meant was I would guess it has something to do with the driver on the GPU causing the issue.

Have you tried plot lines with color fill if you want color instead of live views? Lot less taxing on your GPU which would be my guess looking at that.

Sounds like you might have an issue. I would recommend calling chief on monday with your key number handy so they can help you resolve your issue. @Dermot

Chief works quite well with a large model on the wife's m1 MBP 13". Didn't test it extensively but works well what I did test. No real lag for 3d but again did not test extensively as it is her work computer and I have been busy. That being said I still would recommend waiting till later for m2 and other more robust computers to come out if you use this professionally or as your main computer. There is a rumor of a lighter weight Mac Pro desktop version which might just be the perfect version for Chief???

By chance is your Sun setting set to a Grey color?

Certainteed vinyl collection has that look but the pattern for it is not right for the vector type views as it shows as just standard lap.

Assuming you have rooms and floor surfaces layer turned on in THAT camera view then possibly you have lost room definition meaning one of your walls is disconnected or marked invisible or no room definition.

Make sure that layer is set to include in the material list. Look in the ALDO.

Didn't mess around with this but I believe from a similar situation that the key would be to not use attic walls between so thus having a balloon framed wall if not the second story or the walls around the first floor main roof get messed up with the faceting.

Place a closet rod in your plan, grab it and hold CTRL or CMD (pc vs. mac) and drag it into the Cabinet or use point to point to move it where it would be in the cabinet. Open it to set height where you want it.

Most likely you are comparing a 2d autocad file to the 3d file that chief puts out. There is alot more detail to process.

I think you misread what I am stating. I totally understand and I am not saying it is not going to run it well and be even better than most light-weight computers. I worked professionally for over a year with a 13" macbook pro hooked to an external monitor and then two once I got an e-gpu. But it is a lighter weight computer overall. An amazing one for what it is. However, and this is what I was referring to with my statement; when you use chief professionally and you go to a high end computer (I use a mac pro 6.1 from 2018 that takes it to the next level), you will see the difference and why I refer to it as a lightweight computer. My wife's 13" mbp with m1 chip is a great computer, but once you have gone to a high end unit you don't go back for work. There are a reason guys are willing to pay 5-20k for a high end computer when they use it professionally.

I think it is good advice but I don't think there will be any issues with the m1 mac mini for basic work other than not being able to run RTRT like most computers. But really a mac mini or the macbook pro 13" are not great computers for chief really as they are lighter weight computers.

with the sheer amount of people who do not understand the new features coming in x13 I am wanting to know is this actual information you have on a hypothetical beta being run on this or are you confusing the fact that non rx cards will not be able to use the rtrt NEW feature that most computers are unable to take advantage of without the GPU upgrade?

Sorry forgot about this post but yes I tested my wifes new MB pro 13" w/ m1 chip and Big Sur and no issues with either. I would say it is faster than my old 13" 2016 mbp I used previously and on par with my newer laptop which is the 2019 16" mbp and the gpu does decent for what it is which is a lighter weight laptop. But not ready for production Chief work yet (especially with the 13" size). Now for as-builts or the occasional light weight 2d work it is great. But I will stick with my mac pro 6.1 desktop until the supposed newer mac pro Light version that is rumored to come out soon with a m2 or even m3 chip(s) and the new apple GPU.

As Doug mentions just delete those and let them be redrawn automatically. Nothing fancy about that gable wall.

This can be very fast if you take advantage of the trim to and cut to tools though.

Yes it is a ducted unit in the attic with depending on the unit 4-8" flex ducting with 1 inlet and usually up to 4 outlets. Most use a hepa filter to filter the inlet as well so much more healthy distribution of the air as well.
