  1. It would be nice to be able to tweak the angle of the blocking on a per roof basis. I am not sure how many times I would run into that situation but probably once the ability was there it would get used a lot.
  2. We can change it. It is just that it must be changed in the defaults. After the rebuild the blocking reoriented to the default setting. At least the is the behavior in X8.
  3. Thanks. I changed the default to have vertical blocking and the rebuild changed accordingly. Jerry (and Chieftalk) saves the day.
  4. In my plan the option for vertical is grayed out (unavailable). What is the secret handshake to get that live again?
  5. I am trying to install simple rafter tails that are 5.5" tails cut from the 9.25" rafter. A pretty standard sort of overhang detail. The soffit will be closed. The problem shows up with the blocking. The framing is set to plumb but the blocking is running perpendicular to the roof slope. Not good for the shear transfer. Is there a simple way to correct this? LEH VIZ PLN V2B.zip
  6. Thanks for the offer Scott. The fabulous Mr. Potter is going to kick this one out for me. I will take you up on the offer soon when I am breathing stress free air.
  7. I am working a project and need some help building the terrain. See attached images. It does not have to be perfect to the contours but I need a good representation rather than the hack poly solids I threw in to make is suck less. The Hardscape will not be changing at this time but I am working on the file for some roof changes. The building footprint is very close to the PDF file and I am almost done with those refinements. You would work on my current file and I would copy the terrain elements into my later file after the building tweaks are finished. I am trying to (re)submit this early next week. I have the file in X8. I also have the survey data in CA and ACAD files. The exact contours are not needed and often will be too complex of polylines to get good terrain but that is something we can discuss. If available and qualified to build some decent terrain, call me at 831-747-4718 Don't send me a private message through Chieftalk, I won't notice it for a few months. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/81yxqv39ad8jvs6/AABmrLZOAEZ-pLJ3fEYoEbeBa?dl=0 LEH Viz PLN V1E.pdf
  8. I also convert any image imported into CA to jpg. The pdf imports bump up the file size too much.

I am not getting results like that. I believe that CA defaults to 600 dpi. I always drop that down to 144.
  10. Since your wife is an artist, maybe you can get her to draw a picture of what you wanting to do? While the possible combinations are not endless, there are quite a few ways to configure 2 different roofs. Also, is your question about carpentry or how to draw this in Chief?
  11. My misinformation was not correct (double, triple negative that!). Actually, for misinformation it was correct. Either way, I have been experimenting and the floor level shown on the tool bar seems to not impact the floor level of the p solid. The location in relation to the floor level that you draw it does. At least in my test plan.
  12. When drawing P Solids in elevation it will be on the floor where you drew it. That means that the camera view (elevation view) will be set to a floor level at the time of drawing. I often will be on the 1st floor plan and then switch to an elevation assuming that I am still on the 1st floor but the floor level reads 2 on the elevation.
  13. I would be happy to go to work on the semi-arch. Who do I send the proposal to?
  14. I used a rectangle for snapping and breaking the wall line. Frankys aaa.plan
  15. Once you send to layout an inch is an inch. The information within the layout box can change relative scale so you could have different scale drawings on the same layout sheet. The layout sheet itself is like an actual sheet of paper in real-world scale.
  16. I confirm this anomaly. I get it sometimes. Then I reselect, copy, paste and it will work. Random. Mine is always with Rich Text.
  17. Boost up your interior ambient to get more light on those cabinets and that will get you closer to the Raytrace colors.
  18. Check out this version. There are still problems with the corner and side elevation. Is the corner actually cantilevered block wall or would this area change to wood framing? Ybor Townhome hack.zip
  19. I am wanting to disable it from starting. It is really sensitive for some reason.
  20. Is there a way to disable the camera spin in a camera view?

  22. Sorry but if you don't save the file with a name there is no archive created.
  23. What type of view are you sending? It appears to be vector with color? Maybe try only vector view with not color for the cabinet elevations.
