From my reference notes: "Plan Compatibility: X9 does not support reading in plans with the .pl# or .la# extension (files from any versions older then Version 10 (2005). CA 10 (2005) creates *.plan files.). To open these older plans in X9, first open these files in X8 and save them which will be in the newer format as a .plan or .layout file. X8 will open plans back to Chief Architect 97 (released August 1997). Version 9 is required to open pre-August 1997 .pln files. Keep X8 until all old plans are updated. The wall's outside layer wraps the end (the paint with zero thickness in this case), not the drywall (unless it is the outside layer). So either 1) make the drywall the outside layer and change the drywall color as desired or 2) give the paint layer a 1/32" thickness. [EDIT] What they said. I think Chief should fix this so that everything wraps the main layer.

You could break the roof plane at the exterior wall. That is, use a separate roof plane for the overhang. Just copy the roof plane in place and make the two join at the roof baseline.

Remember, concrete takes most of the compression, steel takes most of the tension and sheer.

Zoom in and click on it. Then note what is selected in the bottom ribbon. It is probably a roof plane part (like a fascia) and probably due to the roof planes not joining properly. After you select the roof plane, open it go to the materials and change the color of the fascia for that roof plane to red or something and see what happens.
