Possibly just turn off object snaps ? Otherwise you should be able to drag the right wall back out to its desired length.

Who are the top 10 Chief Architect User Experts?
JJohnson replied to DouglasC's topic in General Q & A
I would think someone like Dan Baumann who both; is adept at and teaches CA http://www.chiefexperts.com/public/100.cfm -
Need a CA-licensed Structural Engineer that works with X10
JJohnson replied to Duckling1's topic in General Q & A
I would be surprised if you could find a structural engineer that uses CA. They just add their structural pages (S pages) to your A pages. There is a group in Palo Alto (I think) you might check out. They are soliciting business in the bay area See them out at; https://designeverest.com/ Then email; bryce@designeverest.com -

Kind of like, " hold my beer, and watch this " .

Probably so that all the pipe lengths and fittings can be seen, you only get the horizontals in a plan view. Then you can add up the lengths, count the fittings and size the pipe using a simple chart like the one attached.

Garreth, thanks for this thread. I was having some of the same issues. Now I have shadows turned on, by making sure to select In Preferences; Render, Use Enhanced Lighting

U.L. listing for one hour wall (Stucco and 5/8" type 'x' gyp)
JJohnson replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
UL has rated designs for walls and other assemblies. A guide for searching for exactly what you need is a attached FR-assembly-searches.pdf -
Turn off object snaps and grid snaps, and use the point to point dimension tool.

Perry, look at the little address numbers over the doors in plan view, they are legible. Then look at them in layout view, just a blob.

Using Chrome 63 on Win 10, supposed to be latest version, and it works fine.

Thanks, was just double labels, Solver knew the answer. That was it, thanks !

Has anyone else seen this ? Most doors on the plan are doing this, three sets are not.

I believe there are two types of pdf files, one contains data and you can copy and past from them, the other is an image file with no data. If you zoom way in on the data type, edges remain straight. If you zoom way in on the image type, the edges become jagged. I think one is called vector and the other raster, but I may not remember correctly.

Very nice, thanks

pdf files seem to really slow CA down on my set up, so I scan to jpg then import. If you can get the file scanned to jpg, you can reverse in in Paint Shop, jpg files just work better in CA in my opinion.

I needed to go back and open my previous version of CA, export the User Catalog (right click on it) to Desktop, then close old version, open new version, then click on the library which should then be on your desktop. CA should bring it all in.

Can you change how Chief calls the swing of a door?
JJohnson replied to Mark_Peterson's topic in General Q & A
An interesting bit, This image is scanned out of Architectural Graphic Standards, third edition, 1941. To me it means the "handing" of doors was meant to get the locksets, which were not reversable, correct.. -
Open layer set management ( a button on the top menu with three pages, the middle one has a red check mark on it ) Create a new layer set called Deck Plan Set. Open that new layer set and, set up your layers.

If you haven't already found one, I have one you may have. Check with CA headquarters and make sure it's allowable. They should like to have you back in the family

Is just because an answer ? I have never gone back to an older version either. And I only keep three of four past versions. I have been saving plans with special names to bring forward, leaving the originals in place so they can still be opened in their original versions. But with so much room in disk drives now, just seems like the thing to do.
-
Why not keep them but on a larger data drive, or external drive ?

I had to import Redwood too. The imports go into the User Folder, not the Core Catalogs. Any way to get them where they should be ?

I also have 20.0.3.43x64. When I opened the program yesterday, I was asked If I wanted to install the latest update, but declined. So yes, there is an update (or at least I was offered one) dated 02_14
