  1. Discovered this recently at a condo complex with extensive deck repairs underway and coming up. Up and out of the dirt.
  2. Doesn't holding down Ctrl and X allow smooth re-sizing of anything ? Would blocking the schedule allow that ?
  3. I use the Logitech M510 cordless. The two buttons on the left side are set to space, and tab so I can get back to select or go to next object in a flash. Wheel tilt to left is delete, and wheel tilt to right is undo. Saves a ton of reaching for keyboard motions Recently added; wheel button function is now open object
  4. Most likely, unintentionally hitting F11.
  5. I would think, whats half of a quarter under 88 and instantly think, why an eight under 44, (43 and seven eights) I can do this all day long
  6. Draft stopping is described in the building codes (IRC/IBC) as follows: DRAFTSTOP. A material, device or construction installed to restrict the movement of air within open spaces of concealed areas of building components such as crawl spaces, floor/ceiling assemblies, roof/ceiling assemblies and attics. Draft stopping is required to be located in areas where a transition from horizontal to vertical or vertical to horizontal occurs. It is also required in spaces over a prescribed volume or square footage to limit how much air is available to feed a fire. The intent is to starve the fire of oxygen before it can grow to a point that it can cause severe damage to the building or structure. As draft stopping is used to limit air and not stop fire it can be build of almost any material approved by the building codes. We commonly use sheet metal, wood framing members, insulation or expanding foam for draft stopping.
  7. Not really. If you write the size in feet/inches you are supposed to make the inch number small and underline it. If you speak the size you say twenty by forty if you want 20" x 40", or two oh by four oh if you want two feet by four feet. So it's either way. I have always considered the window specifications for a project one of the trickiest to get correct, with so many variations. Milgard's big deal now is you can get a window at any size you want. My to cents (2)
  8. Thanks D Just hoping to find these folks a drafter near by, that can go to job easily. J
  9. Looking for someone to do simple plans for a VA grant project. Not sure what city of St Helena wants, but VA needs are basic. May involve an existing condition plan, then remodel consisting of barrier free bathroom, and two exits, a ramp and possibly a chair lift. The grants are given to permanently, totally, disabled veterans, so they can stay in their homes when time comes. I just completed one as builder in Sonoma, and can walk you through if interested. I can be reached at 707 326 6095 I am an hour away from the project, and think someone located closer would help makes things go smoother. Thanks for reading, Jere
  10. Take a look at motor home or camping trailer plans. A spiral stair may fit. In California, to go 30' up on an 8' pad would require intensive engineered bracing. Could you sell the land to a neighbor, or buy some from one ?
  11. I was having exactly the same thing happen recently with a survey plan imported into layout. I found an pdf to jpg converter on line, changed the file,to jpg, and no more problem. Better resolution too.
  12. You can reshape a truss in a section view. You would need to do one then multi-copy it. Its tricky to grab the absolute end of a truss, so zoom way in.
  13. I did see that too. To get this in Chief you would have to define the walls as a solid something to not have layers exposed, and drag individual walls down to desired height in floor overview, which I just tried and found out you can do, but door jambs are stubborn. Looks a little crazy.
  14. Take a full overview, then there will be a tool called cross section slider available in the tool bar of the view
  15. There is what looks like standing seam to me in the Lib. It's not 3D though.
  16. Logitech M510, an average size mouse. Left buttons are space (return to select mode) and tab (select next object) Wheel to left is delete, and wheel to right is undelete. It is easy to program the buttons with a little app that you download from Logitech called "Logitech Options"
  17. When I copy text, I have to then open a text box, past the text in there, and then it will show up on the plan.
  18. Delete your roof planes. Go to second floor plan, and draw new walls over the addition, Align those walls with the first floor walls below. Re draw you roof planes. One simple way.

Exactly right. Nice to learn these little behaviors thanks
  20. I use this tool all the time. When you start your line, try to carefully start exactly where you want. Drag the line a bit but hit Tab before releasing mouse button. Enter length you want in the box that opens, and you have the length you want. Hope this helps
  21. This is a little old but still on the Permits and Resources Management Department's website here in Sonoma CO., CA There is a whole new area not on here, called CALGreen which has it's own checklists and required inspections. Residential Plans Checklist.pdf
  22. You may need 60" for tub at tub location unless you find a small one. You need notation, like "New Tub" with an arrow pointing at the new tub, etc

Not a clue what you're talking about, but is that an old Les Paul you're holding in your picture ? (actually what you describe was happening to me too a few days ago. Just stopped on it's own)
  24. Looking for calc.s for guest house 840 2q ft , then main residence 2,100 sq.ft. in Sonoma Valley
  25. To make a file from a screen shot, I hit my PrtScn button when I have the view I want , open PaintShop and paste the screenshot in, save the file as a .jpg, and name it what I like. Save the new jpg to a folder you can find easily then follow Alaskan Sons directions And if you can post the plan you will get the help you need.
