  1. I like color also , I just have to know what that color looks like in grayscale so when printing it look correctly. You can test this by setting color off is grayscale, and just use the color off icon to see.
  2. I have had my own wall fills since day one, haven't noticed
  3. If you mean file sizes, print to "PDF" using a 3rd party "PDF" driver. Do not use Chief's print to "PDF"., their file size is very large compared to others..
  4. I would run it by the city to be sure, I have never done anything exactly like that before and as we all know each city will have their own rules.
  5. I agree with Greg except I have installed fire rated windows within 3 ' of a property line in the past and I would think you would have to make the deck wall structure fire rated also.. You might need to put a fire rated material under the siding. Maybe you could hold that deck back a bit.
  6. Not exactly sure if this helps but Chief will create a phantom slab in elevation views automatically until you actually build one.
  7. It's your hips and valleys which Chief calls ridges unfortunately , just reduce the size to what the rafters are and they won't show. This error in programming has been around forever. or thicken your rafters to fit. we really need separate controls for each sorry I thought you wanted them to not show for some reason
  8. Never had any problems with the latest drivers installed ever, but it would be nice to see his system after seeing your system ,it should be good to go for you for sure, sometimes they ship with old drivers though still check it.
  9. Check to make sure you have the latest video card drivers installed.
  10. I have done it, but it was a long time ago, and the same chief program . You need to open both versions and copy paste to the new version. The trick is to hold down the control key when opening a second version, but never tried using two different versions. It's might be easy for you. Make sure you are on page zero when copying. You can always copy your layout to the lib. and export to the new Chief also
  11. I had a flu shot and it was only a couple days for me and very manageable and could work the whole time, lucky I guess
  12. Lew, didn't you start drawing this a long time ago using what version?, before transparency? if so, I would try to copy the entire plan to a new profile plan in X9. that might restore all the new tools you might need.
  13. around here hip roofs cost a lot more than gable roofs (conventally built) b/c we need to build all or most hips using beams for the hips and valleys and also to brace where the hip meets the ridge with ceiling beams, then you need to bring that load down to the floor and a possible conc. pad or another floor beam to carry the loads. Trusses eliminate all that...
  14. no workaround but if chief would do some changes in Ruby ,many have been asking for, then we could automatically annotate sections and elevations.
  15. Did they save the plan as "backup entire plan" before sending to you?
  16. There is also a center sheet icon in the file/ Print DBX
  17. sometimes a wall might look connected but not. So try to re-connect the walls. Also check for a "non-definition" wall somewhere
  18. Yes, you have lost a room definition somewhere. Check your wall connections, as Lew said
  19. I also did not get the textures until I simply closed and re-started Chief and they showed up in X10..Not sure why though.
  20. I used to have that unchecked when Chief had problems without any undesired effects. I'm using X10 now and have it checked without any problems, come to think about X9 it was also checked without problems. Check you mouse drivers to see they are up to date
