I never check that ,but you can adjust line weights in elevation view using a separate layer-set or anno-sets for sending to the layout. You can also adjust line weights in the edit materials DBX. for roofs, siding, etc.

There is a bug in the system that trusses will not build over other framing, been there a long time but not sure if that's your problem
-
I would just do a save as, and change as needed
-
remember they only do 1 room, then you somehow have to stitch them together. Sounds like more work then it's worth

Learn to use Anno-sets, and layer sets , you don't need to use any cad except for the cad background, to do all of it. Create different walls for existing and new. Create a cad background of the existing as built plan, and put it in the background of you new remodeled plan.Too much to list all here, watch some of Chiefs remodeling videos. I have my own way of doing it, but it's similar. doing all of this, when you remove a wall the cad background wall will show up automatically and that's much cleaner than having invisible walls. It quite a process, not everything is listed here but as you go you will learn.

Check to make sure they are aligned with the upper floor.

Thinking of upgrading my MAC COMPUTER, should I?
DRAWZILLA replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
maybe, but you might get lucky ,the new ones might not have those old problems with Chief., I just don't know but there were problems in the past. -
he has done that a lot.

Whatever cost more is the one you want except I would never have a Radeon graphic's card- ever And what Michael said -
before SSA, upgrades used to cost more, so now it's a deal.

without seeing your plan ,not every wall needs to be bearing and note that when you call out a bearing wall in Chief it will break your ceiling joists every time so you will see a lot of extra lines in your sections. Not sure if you use Shear walls but if you have any interior shear walls you would need a footing under that wall also. One alternative is to not mark any interior wall bearing and place your footings manually as needed.

Yes Joey does produce very nice plans, but for us in southern California that's not enough, we need all the goodies we can get. Joey also does some cad work which I try to evade like the plague .
-
Larry ,you can always just cut the dormer walls and paste them on the attic level., they won't show
-
Try updating your mouse driver or video card driver or both
-
You all realize Chief has had the internet check in for a few versions now. Not new
-
Well good for you , Joey. I just hope you don't get left in the technology dust. I believe it best to keep up. It works for me and my clients, they all like the new stuff and everything I do is custom no plan ever the same
-
Not useless for me, I have found stuff in every upgrade that helps with actual con doc's, how about being able to change the property's of windows and doors from any schedule you have and click on any item in the schedule and Chief will show you where that item is in the plan view, pretty nice if you ask me.
-
if you convert to a real solid then use solid subtract it will show a solid but right now its a lot of work to do it, so I don't. You must subtract a solid with a solid.

I would never put any basement plan on floor 0 and if you are still using X8, you are missing out on a ton of stuff that will save you time drawing, never use cad either, anno-sets are great but plan views are better for working on your drawings . Anno-set have not gone away they are still there.

When you name a room, I believe the room defaults override any other defaults from framing or floor defaults, that's why I name the rooms first after that then the floor defaults can change them. Some people do not name rooms so I guess then the framing and floor default would apply--vary confusing if you ask me.. I use several types of room defaults for 1st and 2nd floors b/c they usually have different floor types like bedroom 1st and bedroom 2nd and all the other types of rooms needed.
-
No , I mean real solids not p-solids, there is a difference.
-
I think you need to convert your floor joists to solids to get what he wants for cuts like that.

Is There a Way To Save and Open Plans With All Plan Views Open?
DRAWZILLA replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
hold down the control key when selecting the views you want -
I would like a better way to have floor defaults in Chief b/c they are in floor defaults ,and room defaults, and framing, so when you name a room the room defaults apply. Too many default places., I think it';s confusing
