Looks like the automatic light Chief puts in when no lights are present, just add a light and it should go away. -
I don't think there is a lot of help b/c it requires a different program that a lot of people just don't have to help you along. You will just have to figure it out yourself I guess.

Changed my perspective about plan review outsourcing
DRAWZILLA replied to para-CAD's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
You got that right, even within each city , each plan checker wants different things, there is no standard. I once had a plan checker in Long Beach Ca, mark the heck of one of my pans b/c she wanted me to change the page layout to her liking, Well, I went to the city manager and next thing I know plan was approved without any changes. Never had any problems with her again. Sometimes you need to speak up on things like that and go to a higher source. -

I find that having to deal with 50 different cities, there is no way of covering that in one template, so I just keep it simple and adjust per city requirements. And no 2 cities are alike, they each have their own notes they need. -
Toolbar disappearing on a regular basis now since last update!

I think Joe wanted to be able to select doorways in 3d that don't have any casing. Can't do it unless the doorway has casing. Did they fix that? -
thanks for that in depth study , thousands of layers, no wonder your head is spinning, mine just blew up. I have been using Joe's method for a few years now, very similar .

Just put in a curved ceiling plane then when you install a truss manually, the bottom cord will follow the ceiling plane. real simple and easy to do.

I'm sure Scott would do a seminar online if we had someone that does landscape plans to lead the discussion. I don't know of anyone here, even Chief has no video's on the subject.. Chief does have the tools for it.

If it were me, I'd just bite the bullet and get a new computer so all the parts work together correctly. Piece upgrading could cause choke points. If this is your business, sometimes it just cost some money to be in business.

Rights to renderings created for previous employer
DRAWZILLA replied to HillsideDB's topic in Local User Groups
I think it all boils down to employee vs independent contractor. If you were an Employee you lose the argument -
nice and thanks for the offering.

you mean like this? 448siding.calibz

Chief doesn't address this at all, for me it's all manually put on the drawings. It sure would be nice for some kind of automation.

Dave has many many video's that are top notch, thanks Buddy

everyone usually creates their own, I have never seen one that I want to use, you can start with one chief provides and modify. I have seen some very nice layout templates ( Joe Carrick) with many macro's that generate automatically,

you might read this also, I believe another program is needed

you might try to limit the reach to 8' or something

for remodels I will copy my remodeling plan template and layout template to a new job folder with the correct name. Then you will need to rename those and relink them. My plan template has everything to show as existing (windows-doors etc.) . Once done with the existing I will save as to existing plan as to not have to re-link to the layout. I will also create a cad mask for all floors and put these in the background so when you remove a wall what's underneath will show.. I then change all my existing defaults like walls, doors windows ,headers, beams etc. Then draw the new, anything new will show up in schedules, materials list, room finish, foundation. it does take a bit of time to separate it all but you'll be glad you did., and now it's all automatic. been doing it that way for ever but with each new release it's getting much easier and saving me time, which is what all about. The thing about Chief is there are many way's to go, everyone does it a little different, That is the mark of a great program.

I see now what you mean and it should work. i tried to download the plan and it said it was deleted so you must have fixed it.
