Using a saved camera for walkthrough camera duties...
DRAWZILLA replied to chomper's topic in General Q & A
I'm not saying they aren't, they just don't work as well with Chief, over the years I've seen lots of people have problems using them. Search the forum. -
Using a saved camera for walkthrough camera duties...
DRAWZILLA replied to chomper's topic in General Q & A
Zeon's and Quadro cards are not the best items for Chief. i7 and NVidia is the way to go for the best gaming machine experience and what Chief recommends. X10 will do it better than X8. -
I will just draw the walls in the reversed state first, then use transform replicate to flip it vertically

Have you fully or partially made the switch to PBR?
DRAWZILLA replied to DanDearborn's topic in General Q & A
For client preliminary plans I'm using more PBR now and never really used ray-tracing b/c it was too slow, except for the crappy ones under a few minutes. They actually were ok for what I needed. Now with PBR, it's almost instant and updates automatically. For full working drawings , no renderings but maybe a couple PBR's if they print it in color. although grayscale is good for printing PBR's -
Armstrong downloaded ok for me, without any problems.

Try turning on automatic heights in the stair DBX. It should get you to the 2nd floor automatically.

here is how i have been doing it for now, until the tool gets fixed

CRC compliance for wall assembly U-Factors

A slight negative air pressure as most typical fans do, doesn't kill anyone and the testing proves it. The state of California allows it and the rest is just your opinion. or you are just trying to sell something. -
CRC compliance for wall assembly U-Factors
DRAWZILLA replied to Renerabbitt's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
Richard, that is just a company trying to sell a product not anything to do with the code we need to follow, it's their opinion. I didn't see any reason to do it their way. It costs more than using an always on fan that doesn't create enough negative air to make people sick like you think. Of course it's preferred to have all that built in to your system , but not everyone wants to pay more. a slight Negative air in your home is better than having it air tight any day. That's a fact Jack. -
CRC compliance for wall assembly U-Factors
DRAWZILLA replied to Renerabbitt's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
Never seen or heard that anywhere and apparently neither has the state of California. -
you can change your gable sub-fascia to 1/16 to move the wall up also
-
Yes keep it live , because we all have changes down the road, and using cad means you will have to re-do all that cad work.

CRC compliance for wall assembly U-Factors
DRAWZILLA replied to Renerabbitt's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
That's why we in Cali. have to install Always on fans to create a negative air pressure , so everyone won't get sick.. every time you open a front door or window, fresh air from the outside is suppose to rush in.. Well--at least you hope it's fresh air.. -
Sure but it's not automatic, draw your foundation using the foundation walls you need ,on level 0, then when you are done just copy those foundation walls you just did to level 1 and change those wall to what you want. foundation walls are just walls with rooms just like a floor plan
-
ok, but I wasn't talking about PBR, i was talking about the Opaque option for windows
-
That option was also in X9

Could also be a roof plane line that is not straight, just off a little
-
You could also put a roof on it.

A Lot of people here use Dropbox for their job files and the Chief data files. You then just need to open any file from the Dropbox folder and draw away. Because you put the data file there also all your materials are automatically there too.

Just maybe it's a new feature, something we could have used 30 years ago.

Chief crashing/quitting when going to print
DRAWZILLA replied to katmacphail's topic in General Q & A
You might try to Clear the printer info also. It located in the file/ print/ clear printer info. -
I would also stay away from these also although they have gotten better lately, but there have been problems in the past. NVidia is all I have ever used without any problems
-
Believe me David, it was added years ago.

I wouldn't get a Quadro card if my life depended on it for Chief.
