Mick, my eyes are just getting old. I did increase the text size to 14 and now much better. I really don't care for setting everything to 150 % thru windows with Chief as it changes everything including my drawing space, much better just to enlarge the menus and change them to a bold text.. My monitor is just a 1920x1080 and have been thinking a 4k if it would help (not sure). Thanks for the help.

Thanks Mick, I was having a hard time viewing my 42 " monitor b/c windows fonts were to grey, so I tried it out and now I can draw another 20 years, thank you very much for sharing this app. I'll never forget you.

I'm pretty sure when I bought my first Alienware, that's who they were before Dell purchased them. Don't ask what year but I know it was prior to 2005.

I think Alienware were always Alienware but Dell did buy them a few years ago, I thought the laps were liquid cooled , I guess not, I must have read this to fast. Thanks Mark.

Since going with Alienware many many years ago, never had any cooling problems ever--liquid cooled just works

I USE THE gf experience , all the other drivers don't bother me. Have more space then I'll ever use on this computer. also have a secondary 4tb drive for overflow if needed.

I'm with Larry (humble chief) on this one, you can reference as many plans to any layout that you want, simple.. Also don't forget you may have new foundation and framing plans, roof plans, etc.

I think it's really about the age of the plan and using the great S>A>M> method, you could run into this more than most.

X10 does not provide a tool like that at this time, maybe X11 but no one knows except them.

not sure but I keep about 10 to 15 cameras in my template plan, never noticed any plan speed problems ,but the layout is noticeable depending on the type of view, watercolor taking the longest time..

as with all new updates you must re-save any versions from a previous update to the new update or new version. This is normal, save your money.

I know that Joe Carrick has done them.

VERY NICE VIDEO AND METHOD. Wonder if you ever tried blocking up the new floor over the existing areas, that way you save the existing ducts , electrical, gas lines, sewer and drain lines, and you give the framer lots of room for oversized floor beams and a space for new duct work. I have been doing this for 30 years now and the framers and other trades love it. It also saves the homeowner some money. I usually just set a 4x8 beam on top of the ceiling joists with solid blocking below, then set your floor joists on the 4x8. the 4x8 will cover the extra weight falling on the openings below, but for large openings you have the space to add the larger header if needed. He doesn't say what version he wants converted, version 10 forward, just open the plan file in your newest version. Version up to version 9 use the methods above.

I have used open 2 layouts when a new version come out since I started using Chief. I then copy any items(like notes , details) to the new version profile layout, never had any problems opening a second layout.

in X10 for me on my p.c. open chief then hold down the control key then open a 2nd layout, works for me. you can cope from one to the other.

Not sure how anyone can give you a price based on those drawings, where is the project located? That makes all the difference in the world. Here in California that would be a 30 page drawing, not so much in Arizona but it all depends. Again here in calif. we would have to draw the whole house-- no partials' . Are you removing windows in a room that needs some window area per code? retaining walls usually require engineering and soils testing.

you should watch the Chief videos on remodeling, too much to talk about here, new and existing wall types needed on different layers etc..

I also use railing / post to beam and adjust the newls and rails to whatever you need, been doing it that way for years now.

Any DWG or DXF files sent to me, I always just trace over them and never use cad to walls, it's just never worked good for me. It's easier to just put the DXF file in the background and trace using chief walls.
