  1. I think Joe wanted to be able to select doorways in 3d that don't have any casing. Can't do it unless the doorway has casing. Did they fix that?
  2. thanks for that in depth study , thousands of layers, no wonder your head is spinning, mine just blew up. I have been using Joe's method for a few years now, very similar .

    Help

Just put in a curved ceiling plane then when you install a truss manually, the bottom cord will follow the ceiling plane. real simple and easy to do.
  4. I'm sure Scott would do a seminar online if we had someone that does landscape plans to lead the discussion. I don't know of anyone here, even Chief has no video's on the subject.. Chief does have the tools for it.
  5. If it were me, I'd just bite the bullet and get a new computer so all the parts work together correctly. Piece upgrading could cause choke points. If this is your business, sometimes it just cost some money to be in business.
  6. I think it all boils down to employee vs independent contractor. If you were an Employee you lose the argument
  7. Chief doesn't address this at all, for me it's all manually put on the drawings. It sure would be nice for some kind of automation.
  8. Dave has many many video's that are top notch, thanks Buddy
  9. So far I have just been dictating using dragon directly into a Chief text box. those code requirements, it's not copying but no one cares about it being exact.
  10. everyone usually creates their own, I have never seen one that I want to use, you can start with one chief provides and modify. I have seen some very nice layout templates ( Joe Carrick) with many macro's that generate automatically,
  11. you might read this also, I believe another program is needed
  12. you might try to limit the reach to 8' or something
  13. for remodels I will copy my remodeling plan template and layout template to a new job folder with the correct name. Then you will need to rename those and relink them. My plan template has everything to show as existing (windows-doors etc.) . Once done with the existing I will save as to existing plan as to not have to re-link to the layout. I will also create a cad mask for all floors and put these in the background so when you remove a wall what's underneath will show.. I then change all my existing defaults like walls, doors windows ,headers, beams etc. Then draw the new, anything new will show up in schedules, materials list, room finish, foundation. it does take a bit of time to separate it all but you'll be glad you did., and now it's all automatic. been doing it that way for ever but with each new release it's getting much easier and saving me time, which is what all about. The thing about Chief is there are many way's to go, everyone does it a little different, That is the mark of a great program.
  14. I see now what you mean and it should work. i tried to download the plan and it said it was deleted so you must have fixed it.
  15. yes Chief please allow this to happen.
  16. It's been known since Chief started to always check any symbols you might import for face size and reduce it prior to using. Some imported symbols are just too large especially from Sketch up warehouse.
  17. You need to multi-select all existing doors then change them, doors and windows are not dynamic items.
  18. Those look like winders to me, exactly what are you trying to achieve.
  19. I'm pretty sure you know this but I would check what I have my extensions set at. are those automatic or manual dims?
  20. to me it seems to be the way you ae working as I don't have those problems--user error. . there is something wrong with your setup.
  21. It will also create a much smaller file if you save as a reduced PDF, I just wish I didn't have to take the extra step
  22. wow , that's news to me because I can zoom in pretty close and not have any problems, maybe it's because I always print using a 600 dpi. Thanks for looking into that.
  23. that;'s because your paper in not centered with the plan. you can just turn the page display off
