Unwanted Light From Walls And Objects In Raytrace

Here is a 3 min RT. I adjusted the lighting. I also turned off all lights and just used the light sources. Some color would really help this view. -
Just try to learn manual roofs, once you learn them, its very easy to do. I use auto roofs to start ,then manually fix them. try to connect your walls at that point, depending on how you defined the room those could be attic or regular walls. Use the "edit wall layer intersections" tool. Remember the roof edge should be located at the exterior surface of the wall not the framing. usually Chief does this automatically but sometimes it doesn't . You probably have 2 moldings in the roof DBX , maybe in the freeze section, you can have more than one so check to see if you have 2

Put that info on the layout. Also you can set up template plans both plan and layout and link them, add any info,(plans, elevations, sections you want and use those for new plans. When I start a new plan, I start with my plan and layout and everything is already linked ,camera views, sections, all plan types. My plan template file has a basis box house and all the usual fixtures ready to go. You can also use Scott's SAM method where you just take your last plan and layout rename it and delete items that don't apply in the new plan and go from there.

I'm not sure building things out of cabinets is ready for prime time just yet. Too many of those little things pop up. It sure would be nice to have a generic tool like that, though.

I added an SSD to my system and it was the best thing I ever added for speed

If you have turned off auto roofs, you might have to adjust the roof in the z- direction to get it to set on the plate line.
-
Not sure but it could be a video card issue, are you using the latest update for that card?
-
I have noticed some sinks need to have their "origin" changed in the symbol DBX to sit correctly. you need to select the countertop hole and adjust it.

The raytrace is really all about the setup . I do 3 to 5 minute RT's and they are pretty good but I really have never had to wait 21 min. if you have a lot of lights on it does take forever. What I do is turn off all the lights and use light sources in each room as needed. Its all in the setup.

You can use the "country" box or any other box you don't use. I use the country for lot and tract numbers

here is one of them http://www.locklizard.com/pdfsecurity.htm?gclid=CLq43JXwmsECFU1afgodKAwAPw

There are programs that will let you delete a "PDF automatically from their computers on any date you want or you place the "PDF on someone else's server and they have to get permission to download it, it can also be deleted from their computers. You set a date to be deleted, if they haven't paid you by then then its deleted. Not a cheap program though.

Unwanted Light From Walls And Objects In Raytrace

Try to put some light sources in that room and lighten up the scene. Those are pretty bad quick RT's. I would put 3 or 4 lite sources in that room. You might not see it then b/c no light reflecting off the cabs. Also see if there is difference using a different door style. I also do crappy 5 min RT's and never seen this. -
In the symbol options, when you create it, there are options for inserting into cabinet top.

Barry's good, I have been using him for a while now, fast service, accurate with great prices. I have stopped doing them and use Barry. One less thing to worry about now.

Put your plant on a separate layer, turn it off, but leave plant labels on. You can also adjust the transparency to 100% in the plant DBX. and it won't show in 3d. I don't use a plant schedules so not a problem for me
-
Thanks again, Joe I'm wondering where any people from Chief are , haven't seen many here lately. I'm sure they must be busy working on all the new goodies to come.
-
Yes, that works good, I'm just trying to get the numbering like 1-6 on the first floor and 7-15 on the 2nd floor. The second floor starts with 1 again, could get confusing for some people.
-
What I love about this is that I can also have plan notes on each separate floor on the plan. I wish I could just number the schedule so 1st and second floor didn't have the same numbers to eliminate some confusion. It would also be great to have plan notes on Foundation, Electrical, Framing, and all the other plans.
-
Too bad we can't add an arrow within the label spec's.
-
I use it all the time for Electrical.

Joe, the genius just keeps coming. Thank you, sir.

When I save the symbol to my lib. and add it to the "Place lib. object" it won't keep the same layer I saved it with, it always reverts back to furniture interior layer. BTW I saved it in a new plan notes layer so every time I place one ,I have to change the layer to my new layer. Question, did I have to change the symbol layer before I created the symbol? ps even when I copy the symbol it reverts back to the other layer.
