I agree give him a "PDF" and lock it, he won't be able to print it or copy it.

I Use a background mask, there are videos on this in Chief's videos. then when you remove a wall the mask under it will show up as a removed wall. I do that and have been for many years, I can't think of any better way to do it. It also creates a very clean model. . -
Chief will always conventionally frame in those areas that don't have any trusses automatically.

Stop Manual Joists From Extending To Others At Angle

You should post the plan for an exact answer -
her it is . Look at the bottom left about what is highlighted

Did you re-frame the roof to get those rafters in there? Select the roof plane and go to the edit DBX and reframe the roof plane or turn on auto framing for roof planes

I use it all the time to put a railing into an opening. -
How simple was that. I'm thinking the worse.

Sometimes you need to shut off the computer and re-boot. I always shut down every night.

Doesn't the truss base work? That looks like a simple roof overbuild to me. Here in Calif. we do those all the time. I mostly build all my projects using all conventional lumber but some existing homes are trusses. Isn't that roof overbuild done conventionally anyway?

Ok, I posted it at 1:04pm. I do know any computer can not keep the time correct if the internal battery is low or going out. How old is your computer?

If I turn on Framing-rafters, I get them.

Frieze Issues On Manual Hip Roof With 2 Different Pitches
DRAWZILLA replied to bobditch's topic in General Q & A
The pic looks like you can see thru the overhangs into the room, maybe that has something to do with it. add soffits or try to frame the roof, you shouldn't be able to see thru it. -
Nice he best answered his own question, at least give Joe a point

Just get the best processor and video card you can afford. That's the basic's of what it all boils down to.

Use the Bearing line tool to keep the joists separate and you can set them at any direction you want. -
I guess there are not enough people like me that really need this stuff to save me a lot of time on every plan I do.
-
I always keep my sections live and only use the Auto detail for insulation and foundation embellishments. Look into using Annosets to automate most of the work.
-
once you draw in the trusses than they will stick and new re- framing will only frame where no trusses exists.
-
You must frame the model to be able to see it in the sections. Also you need to make sure that the framing layers, cabinets, etc, are on in section view.

I think most of the slowness is valid in X7, hopefully it is fixed in the final release. Although, some systems could be causing some slowness.

I would think that Chief would have at least created a lot of macro's that users could use on every plan, and save time. The arrow dis-connect is a big problem for not using that type of macro, for me. I do use as many as I can though, thanks to you and some others. I think The people at Chief could create pages of macro's to use, at least Create them if we ask for them on an individual basis until they build up pages of them, to include with a new version.
