Will Chief 'notch' I-Joists (Tji's) For Eave Overhangs?
DRAWZILLA replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
You can also get the framing from the eave roof plane and copy it to the main roof plane, then you don't need two roof planes. But I would do that last just in case there are changes. -
Its always a good idea to back up the lib. also.
-
I was just saying that might be why you had so much trouble.
-
I put the icon file in the chief architect file and get it from there, from the change icon button. I also had to re-pin to the taskbar from the icon on the desktop

Lew, maybe b/c you said you weren't upgrading here many times.

Will Chief 'notch' I-Joists (Tji's) For Eave Overhangs?
DRAWZILLA replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
I sometimes need to use 2 separate roof planes, one for the roof and one for the overhang/ eave. It does leave a line you have to remove in vector elevations -
Add a second floor to the structure then you can make the ceiling system out of the 2nd floor and adjust the height of the floor/ ceiling to wherever you want. If you want no walls to show on the 2nd floor then just make them invisible. Also use open below for no floor and to adjust wall height

What a pain that is, glad we now have it easy
-
For me, back in Architecture school, it took forever to do that all by hand. You guys got it easy

I just want Chief to address this so we don't have this problem. Every version for as long as I can remember has this problem. I have also sent it in to TS. many times.

I have no problem moving my mouse to a second monitor where I watch tv.

Not a joke, a dog is a dog, and I have no problem with it, if needed. We have only had 3 dogs in our 40 years of marriage, they live long lives but when the time comes, it must be done unless you like to keep them suffering. To me that's more humane . A friend of mine runs a Humane Society here in L.A. area, he gasses 80,000 pets every year just in his location.

Thanks Bill, She is the man in the house, I'm just along for the ride.

You can also use a doorway to get the post where you want them without breaking the wall. If you want railing in the doorway add a short piece of railing make it "No room def" and slide it into the wall.
-
For you Do you have a large amount of text blocks in your layout. I do and also in the my lib. For me, it seems that the text block is the problem.
-
I use Ariel and it changes for me with every new version also.

I have no problem putting a dog down, my wife does it.

I have mine at 1/4 b/c a typ. stud is 3 1/2 and a 1/4" will get me anywhere I want to place it. Chief once told me that if you have a real low setting, Chief and your computer has to work harder to compute things, That might come in affect in large jobs.

I hear you Larry, I just know I will upgrade mainly b/c I don't want to go back, I like the Goodies. I have lot of jobs already drawn in X7 and can't.
