  1. Yep, I just save it to my X8 folder so its good to go from there, and have a new one for every version of Chief as not to mix them up..
  2. I would say for one, set up your template plans and layouts for maximum performance. You can set them up, so when you are ready to draw, you can get started immediately by having everything already sent to the layout, and notes and details you would use on every project ,ready to go also . At first you might get lost but when done, you never have to set up defaults again. It's a work in progress, I'm still changing things, like with new versions of Chief b/c every new version saves me time, since version 10 for me. Good luck, when in doubt come here and ask.
  3. I use it all the time, you just have to do it last thing, mostly to cover up slab irregularities for a cleaner look.
  4. You can use reference sets to show things that are not on that floor. search reference sets to learn about them
  5. Here is the fix but the roofs don't line up with existing b/c of different baseline height. If you lower the roof to align with one of the existing then the other is off, so I left it with its own height. McMartin fix.zip
  6. If you are wanting an angled back cabinet against a wall. I just make my base 3" or 4" thick so it shows the front as normal. Then use a custom countertop and angle it to conform to the wall. It works for now until Chief gives us angled back cabinets
  7. You can change the cad block associated to the symbol and after you have the perfect symbol and cad block , add it to your lib. for a quick and easy way to put it in the plan. Create a folder in your user lib and add those things you use all the time.
  8. It's just luck, I accidently put a deck on the second floor when it was suppose to be on the first and Walla, a simple patio cover, you might see every day. Mistakes often lead to something else.
  9. Thank, I will probably want that one, let you know.
  10. No, please. Joe, does that include the square footage of the vents? Here we all have to figure that for the underfloor and attic vents.
  11. Hit f5 and the lights will turn back on when you lose them
  12. Scott, do you turn off the terrain in section view? Leaving it on which I like, but don't like it showing in section views under the slab floors with it on using the hide terrain tool off.
  13. Or use the transform- replicate tool to do it.
  14. ok then p-solid it is. sometimes you just have to punt.
  15. With a porch with roof , I would just make it a porch room and define it however you want using post to beam. Very fast.
  16. Room divider wall will automatically turn into a framed wall when you have different levels floor or ceiling.
  17. ARE YOU KIDDING ME, IT TOOK ME 3 MINUTES INCLUDING THE LATTICE, MUCH FASTER THAN MANUALLY USING P-SOLIDS. Also what about when your client wants to move something for me it would be automatic for you , you would have to adjust every piece of lattice.
  18. If I understand you correctly, you just change your title to A-# and the numbers will change automatically when you add or subtract a page.
  19. of course any custom p.c. would require manually done, but this is good for a quick p.c.
  20. here is a video http://screencast.com/t/YK369GYZ
  21. No video's on what I'm doing. I'll do a video
  22. Using the deck tool, you can move all of that stuff as you like including footing depth. I like it just b/c it's faster for me.. Of course you do have to set the defaults to what you are doing. I also have to deal with loads every day.
  23. I use post to beam all the time when I don't need the beam to extend past the posts. If you do need the posts in any other place ,just use the post to beam tool with no posts ( newels set to "0" ) and place the post using the post tool. There may be times when you need to do it manually. Any patio covers I do, I use the deck (no railing)tool from the second floor , set the decking to lattice 2x2's etc., Then you can adjust the post to beam however you want, it also places the conc pads automatically. Solid cover or lattice, you can also place the height to whatever works. At least I like it for patio covers.
  24. No, I just pick it up and slam it to the concrete floor a second time.
