  1. I always have a second or 3rd floor in in every model I do, weather there is one or not. My templates are set up that way.
  2. Here it is fixed, had to play around with it, I guess the main thing I did was to add a 2nd floor (open below). just use invisible walls not a glass wall. Check it out and see if that works for you. I noticed the roofs reverted back to hips but you can fix that easily Test corner foyer fixed.plan
  3. here is a workaround if you need it. http://screencast.com/t/qNvV6ipB
  4. A lot of cities and states work under older codes and just don't care about seismic, still. A lot of permits are given with just an architectural set of plans.
  5. Yes, select all your roof planes and de-select automatic birdsmouth from the roof DBX, then put in whatever number you want. You might want to also change your roof defaults. I would also re-build the roof planes.
  6. Look here , you can also turn off vector views on the same page
  7. at a quick first look , it seems the birdsmouth depth is different for different roof planes, check them
  8. Yep, I just save it to my X8 folder so its good to go from there, and have a new one for every version of Chief as not to mix them up..
  9. I would say for one, set up your template plans and layouts for maximum performance. You can set them up, so when you are ready to draw, you can get started immediately by having everything already sent to the layout, and notes and details you would use on every project ,ready to go also . At first you might get lost but when done, you never have to set up defaults again. It's a work in progress, I'm still changing things, like with new versions of Chief b/c every new version saves me time, since version 10 for me. Good luck, when in doubt come here and ask.
  10. I use it all the time, you just have to do it last thing, mostly to cover up slab irregularities for a cleaner look.
  11. You can use reference sets to show things that are not on that floor. search reference sets to learn about them
  12. Here is the fix but the roofs don't line up with existing b/c of different baseline height. If you lower the roof to align with one of the existing then the other is off, so I left it with its own height. McMartin fix.zip
  13. If you are wanting an angled back cabinet against a wall. I just make my base 3" or 4" thick so it shows the front as normal. Then use a custom countertop and angle it to conform to the wall. It works for now until Chief gives us angled back cabinets
  14. You can change the cad block associated to the symbol and after you have the perfect symbol and cad block , add it to your lib. for a quick and easy way to put it in the plan. Create a folder in your user lib and add those things you use all the time.
  15. It's just luck, I accidently put a deck on the second floor when it was suppose to be on the first and Walla, a simple patio cover, you might see every day. Mistakes often lead to something else.
  16. Thank, I will probably want that one, let you know.
  17. No, please. Joe, does that include the square footage of the vents? Here we all have to figure that for the underfloor and attic vents.
  18. Hit f5 and the lights will turn back on when you lose them
  19. Scott, do you turn off the terrain in section view? Leaving it on which I like, but don't like it showing in section views under the slab floors with it on using the hide terrain tool off.
  20. Or use the transform- replicate tool to do it.
  21. ok then p-solid it is. sometimes you just have to punt.
  22. With a porch with roof , I would just make it a porch room and define it however you want using post to beam. Very fast.
  23. Room divider wall will automatically turn into a framed wall when you have different levels floor or ceiling.
