chief58
you should be able to copy and paste to the different levels, if you want to turn them off and on for the different levels make layers level 0, level 1, level 2 after pasting on the different levels this way you can turn them off and on when you want
buzzsaw204
you should be able to copy and paste to the different levels, yes. thats one option of doing it. but is that really a real solution tho? if theres a change....then you C&P again for each Level? Bill_Emery
There has been some discussion of this subject on the old forum. I believe the consensus was to simply copy and paste the structural grid on to each floor. It's possible to put it on the reference layer, but then you cant snap to it. chief58
it is simple would take about 30 seconds to do
jcaffee
Turn it on in reference layers and give it a unique color. jon

buzzsaw204
they have this option for Footing object. when you draw Pile footing, you can turn on/off, change property, in differ level. wonder why not for dimensions??

MickeyToo
Thanks, buzzsaw. It has the look of Country Blueprint, but I knew it wasn't that. I'll have to download and install those. Another nice caps only font is MyHand2 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,1).
DRAWZILLA
yes, this work as "reference". can you print Reference layer? Yes the reference layer will print. I use them for almost every plan sent to the layout, a big time saver. You just create your own custom reference set just like a layerset.

Now, to move on, let's talk about using more than one ref sets from more than one floor....... ref sets are very very powerful and with a little nudge from us minions, I have a feeling CA will improve their power. HumbleChief
Always been curious about ref sets. I use them during drawing but never in Layout. How would the OP use ref sets to accomplish what he wants? Put the dimensions he wants to view on all pages on a specific layer that is then shown in a custom ref set? Bill_Emery
The drawback of using the reference layer is that you can't snap to it. It's fairly important to be able to snap to the structural grid.
DRAWZILLA
yes, but you don't need to snap to anything b/c it's already snapped in the original place you drew it.
Joe_Carrick
I put them on the 1st Floor, dimension them, then copy->paste->paste hold position on all the other floors. I have them on a separate layer so it's easy to just set all other layers off - then marquee select.

Bill, Not sure if I am getting you wrong or not, but I can snap to objects on a reference layer.
HumbleChief
Just tried and, yes, I can also snap to reference layers. http://www.screencast.com/t/hvKIhabU Glenn, We need some more vids from you mate!
Bill_Emery
My mistake, I didn't think they would snap.
jcaffee
I would be lost without reference layer snaps. Try aligning structural posts by eye--no thanks. jon
DRAWZILLA
Funny thing, never really needed to snap to my reference set.
