DRAWZILLA
I did this short video about the Joe Carrick phantom plant schedule turned into a plan note or key schedule. I love this thing. http://screencast.com/t/jnlkuc4xlIfP

Kbird1
Thanks Perry , works like I assumed it would , just need to make the invisible Plant symbol I guess to make it work M.

jscussel
Perry, Won't open. No plan data. Tried X6 & X7
dshall
Another example of needing wrap around text. Nice job P. And JC.
Kbird1
I got it setup thanks Perry , the sequential numbering had me fooled till I realised you need to change the label ( from new note) as you place them, so the next one places with the next no#. I copied the Dutch Hyacinth to my User Library and renamed it PLAN NOTE And I learnt there is a Place Default Item from Library Button which is now assigned to the PLAN NOTE made above. Looks like you zipped that plan while it was open P. it is an empty zipfile Thanks again. M.
Rich_Winsor
I did this short video about the Joe Carrick phantom plant schedule turned into a plan note or key schedule. I love this thing. http://screencast.com/t/jnlkuc4xlIfP Don't want to hijack your thread Mr. P but I just wanted to say that of all the different video formats people are using to post videos to the forum, your Snagit videos display more clearly and at a suitable screen resolution for me than all the others. I can always see all the screen on my monitor without making any adjustments and there are no annoying progress bars or the like blocking pertinent information from being viewed. I can clearly see what icons and menu items you are referencing whereas with some of the other formats I often need to pause the video to be able to see what tools are being used. This has been an unsolicited Snagit testimonial. Now back to your regular programing.
CJSpud
Perry: That's great stuff ... thanks for the video. Looks like you forgot to close the plan when you zipped it. Can you please try again. Thanks Joe - I guess I missed that tip (or forgot about it .... been known to do that a time or two).
HumbleChief
I too like the Snagit format. Nice job Perry. One question. How do you set up the library icon in your tool bar?
Joe_Carrick
It's the icon named "Place Library Object"
HumbleChief
Yeah got that part Joe but can't seem to figure out how to get a label to insert instead of a plant. http://screencast.com/t/jK4ivgF44Pw8
HumbleChief
Ah I'm thinking I need to create a library object with the proper label then point to that library object with the place library object tool. Yeah that worked thanks for the tip.
Joe_Carrick
OK Larry, you're almost there. 1. Create a Plant Schedule and set the Label to "Use Callout". 2. Edit the Schedule to include just 2 columns: Number and Label 3. Edit the Column Headings and Schedule Name 3. Make sure Plant Labels is displayed in your Plan. You can mess with the Layers of your Library Object, image, etc. to get the rest of it set up. ps: I set my Schedule to "Include all Floors" and my Schedule is located on it's own CAD Detail Window. Perry has a separate Schedule for Each Floor - either method works.
DRAWZILLA
ok it's good to download now, Sorry for the screw up. Like Joe says, just use the "place lib object" to get it on your toolbars. don't forget to save it to your lib first.
AriseDesign
Perry you need to post a link to all your snag it videos....thx

Kbird1
Time to start your own Channel on Youtube too I like the SnagIt Video's too, good resolution etc so you can see what is going on , it helps that you move the mouse at real world speed not at Warp plus the speed of sound too Thanks again. Joe_Carrick
FWIW, you can create a Plant Symbol rather than using one that Chief provides. I just made a small Solid Box (1/8" x1/8"x1/8"), made it a Transparent Material and Converted it to a Plant Symbol. I named it "Plan Note" and made the Linestyle a blank line. It's invisible even if the "Plants" layer is on.
Joe_Carrick
Perry, I had heard that SnagIt was free.... But when I go to download they want me to purchase it. Is this correct or am I missing something?
HumbleChief
Jing, Snagit's baby brother,is free. Snagit $49. I've been using Jing and it's just OK. Will upgrade to Snagit in the near future.
DRAWZILLA
SnagIt used to be free but I use the paid version, and the paid Screencast account for storing your videos
HumbleChief
SnagIt used to be free but I use the paid version, and the paid Screencast account for storing your videos Looks like $9.95/month to store vids. Does that look right? I wonder if DropBox could be used as well?
DRAWZILLA
I imagine you could use Dropbox, I just want the convenience of letting them do it. 10 buck a month sounds right. You pay for bandwidth, 2 gig's a month, I never get that much traffic so never been close to using 2 gig's in 1 month. With the free screencast you get far less. MoeGia
Is it possible to save the 'Plan Note' symbol to the library with the 'specify label radio' button checked? It keeps reverting to automatic label; I don't want to have to check specify label each time. Thanks Joe and Perry, This would make a nice workshop topic. Macros, automation of plan notes, ruby????
