joey_martin
Ok Gurus. I need to put multiple windows into the box widow (see pic). When I place the box it only allows a single window...I need four....how?
Alaskan_Son
I would personally recommend you don't screw around with the box window tool and instead build it using other methods.
Francois
I run into that problem. I created a wall, placed windows in it and changed the height of the wall by raising it.
johnny
I'm running into this issue often. Michael is right, but if Chief is watching this it would be very nice to have a box window tools that wasn't so limiting....as I really like certain aspects of the box window tool. As Joey mentions, we should be able to add windows BUT also we should have the ability to copy and paste a copy of this element. It would be SUPER cool if we could save these elements to our Library. joey_martin
I was afraid of something like this. I haven't used these tools (box, bay, etc..) for sometime because of the extreme limitation, was hoping something had changed. I built it with multiple walls. SNestor
Maybe someone could do a video on this topic. I have generally built boxed/bay windows manually...but, it's difficult to say the least. At least for me...I'm no guru. I hadn't realized that the "box window" tool was so limiting. Thanks for posting Joey...learned something new...again. Thanks for posting Joey...learned something new...again. The box window and the bay tool is essentially useless in my opinion. I am not smart enough to use it.... and apparently Joey isn't smart enough either. I always manually build. It is a room with a raised floor and I have done multiple vids on this many many years ago...... but I am sure I could not find them.
Joe_Carrick
Yep, it's one of those tools that simply isn't that simple.
DRAWZILLA
it's only ok if you have one window per wall, other than that manually build
johnny
I've used them for a few instances myself but boy they could be so much more helpful with just a small amount of adjustment.
Joe_Carrick
It would be really nice if there was a way to "explode" so that you then had the individual walls and windows to edit. I have no idea why CA didn't provide that simple capability.
DRAWZILLA
Yes why not , they do for dormers

I would appreciate if someone can comment on it. A yes on no would be ok. Thank you
Joe_Carrick
OK, It's a bit convoluted but her goes: In a blank plan create a section of a wall insert 4 windows to make up the size you need and mull them together reduce the surrounding wall to just a hair larger than the mulled unit convert that to a Millwork or Exterior Fixture Symbol back in your Plan with the Box Window set the size of the Window and convert it to a Pass-Thru put the Symbol in the opening I told you it was a bit convoluted
parkwest
Can you click on the box window and then click on ungroup icon? It was a few months ago, but I think that was how I did it.

Joe_Carrick
For most windows in Chief you could just "Replace From Library" and use any "Window Symbol". Unfortunately, that tool isn't available for the component windows within a Box, Bay or Bow Window.
