  1. see my reply in your other posting best not to start two posts on the same topic just leads to confusion Lew
  2. probably best to contact CA's tech support I'm sure they can advise what is needed and if it is possible for HD Suite to do this HD Suite has limited features and this may be not available ??? You may have to upgrade to HD PRO or Chief Premier CA can advise they are open 6 AM - 5 PM Pacific Lew
  3. would also be nice for high-end clients who have $$$$ Lew
  4. Michael: where these plans done in earlier versions of Chief ? I'm sure each release of Chief gets improvements to a major feature like annosets thus creating these little bumps probably best to discuss with CA's tech support as a programmer we constantly had to write code to change the file structure of older programs to meet newer needs I agree with Scott - stay with the one that brought you to the dance Lew
  5. Mark: I had my windows disappear in a similar situation years ago (probably X1 ?) and tech support gave me some BS answer but by then I had managed to fix it - don't remember how I would contact CA's tech support to see if they have a solution if you don't get one here hopefully it won't be a BS - go away answer Lew
  6. Chief deserves a negative point as this shouldn't be happening and should have been fixed long ago Lew
  7. AJ: I have never seen anyone post or discuss that type of plan before and I have been reading every post on this forum since 2004 Lew
  8. just a side note: Softplan appears to have Cricket tools if they work as stated it would be nice if Chief would add this feature Lew
  9. Is this SPAM ? if not, please explain what you want Lew
  10. Please define/describe what you mean by a "photometric plan" ??? I doubt if any know what that is I don't (I have a thought - but ???) Lew
  11. Devin: HD Suite is very limited in features but a Chief Premier user could do the model and permit set for you and with the "allow HD edit ..." flag set you would be able to do the interior decorating on their plan one caveat is that you can see but can't edit anything in the plan that Suite doesn't have a tool or feature for the Premiere user version must be the same "age" as your HD Suite version Premier might be able to be newer but not vice versa - check with CA sales Lew
  12. Jon: I'll have to check my Surface PRO 4 I thought I got an i5 maybe I made the decision to save money since I am retired ??? I've forgotten now I got almost a year ago but never use it as I don't like Win 10 while snowbirding my goal is to get familiar with win10 enough that I can tolerate it and to configure the Surface as much like win 7 as I can should be tackling that task soon Lew
  13. Jon: there was a recent thread about Chief on touch screens the consensus was - no joy not sure about the stylus ??? I believe the PRO 4 only has i5 processor and Chief does better with i7 so depending on how "serious" you are pushing the PRO 4 ??? I hear the PRO 5 is coming soon Lew
  14. from a "laymans" observation only as I couldn't begin to do either one the Vectorworks versions look "professional" the Chief versions don't If I were to do a project my partner would do a chief version and we would hope the client would be satisfied if Chief were to be enhanced someday - we would know the client would be satisfied Lew
  15. click on each room and verify you have room definition in all of them also post the plan so you get more than quesses if no solution by Monday you may need to send to tech support ? Lew
  16. I saw lots of info that was outside the drawing area as I chose each page I got a "missing msg...." I suspect you would need to post the plan and the layout so it could be tried again review your page setup info as something is amiss there Lew
  17. Rick: thanks for the clarification I was seeing Xfref to be more like sub-routines in programming draw once (cad detail for fireplace) - use in many plans Lew
  18. Rick: I don't see annosets/layersets relating to xref's at all ??? https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/AutoCAD-Core/files/GUID-A987D2FF-45BD-474E-99C1-E6316A42F667-htm.html Lew
  19. This is a prime example of why Chief needs bi-directional BIM http://www.vectorworks.net/bim Lew
  20. I think the autocad file needs to be "exploded" or something like that to pull in the x-ref info before creating the .dwg file ??? Lew
  21. Jess: some image formats are lossy and some are lossless .TIF, .BMP, .PNG are lossless .JPG, GIF are lossy many many others but these are the common ones lossy means to save space they drop pixels here and there if you have an area of one color - it will drop some of the pixels for the most part you don't notice till you try to zoom in etc lossless means all pixels are kept .TIF is a very good format to scan at or take digital pics at but also gives very large files .RAW keeps everything - everything - but is usually only used by professional photographers and photo editors If I remember right .PNG offers layers of info ??? google each of these to get better info than my memory allows Lew
  22. Jon: HD PRO users can also benefit from following the Chieftalk forum as PRO has manual roof tools along with framing and cabinets and much more Lew
  23. I doubt if Chief can benefit from touch screen Lew
