New Cabinet Specialty Storage catalog
lbuttery replied to scottharris's topic in Symbols and Content
I get a monthly newsletter and there is always a link to the new catalog of the month. Scott: but CA has released them at other times and they don't always issue an annoucement CA also updates them on a regular basis while the Library update tool will catch the updates I still have no way of knowing which .CALIBZ files to download as I like to save all of them also when X6 beta was released I downloaded EVERY X5 bonus and manuf lib .calibz one by one by one and it was a very tedious process with the X5 library current I then installed X6 and it migrated everything then a quick update and X6 was current yet, I had to go thru EVERY lib on CA's website again using the little "info" icon looking for .CALIBZ libs for X6 to download THEN, two days before Xmas my computer died during an icestorm ALL the .CALIBZ files were LOST I thought I could order a current X5 library DVD but no, it dates back to the beginning of X5 and is thus worthless at this point not sure I will ever take the time to do that again Lew -
nope, but I use Norton 360 I also have Popup blocker set on Internet Explorer Lew

CA has NOT been very consistent about notifications it is a constant quessing game to review the avail libs on their website and determine if you have "everything" the library tools in chief will keep existing libs updated by offers no help for missing or new libs I have suggested for many releases that the library update tool give a list of all the missing libs and ask if we want to download them by giving checkbox's so we can pick and choose or choose ALL it would also be nice to have expected counts so that we can verify that we are all the items for each library it would also be nice if we could organize the bonus and manuf libs to match the folder structure on CA's website I was told by CA a few releases ago that these were good ideas but ??? Jombut: yes, that works for libs already on the old PC doesn't help with missing or new libs Lew -
Batch download of Bonus and Manufacturer catalogs?

also, once you get "everything" for Bonus and Manuf you will have a very hard time staying current when new libs are released do a library update will only get updates for libs you have installed not new libs you will also never know if the counts are correct CA has made this process very, very tedious Lew -

Nic: no there isn't I have been requesting this for many releases you can call CA's sales and request a library DVD for approx. $50 if you do it now it may contain most of the X6 libraries however as time goes by it will be more and more outdated I just called to get an X5 library DVD and found it was over a year old Thus, it is totally worthless at this point Lew -
Mike: I would agree except for that there are still Chiefers using prior versions maybe CA should pick a cut-off maybe 3 or 4 releases back ??? and delete all threads prior to that date ??? Lew
-
Mike: no clue, haven't looked at it in years Lew
-
Rob: you can either clone the plan then strip out unnecessary parts to reduce size or use Dropbox or sugarsync or .... Lew
-
try the free Texture Studio Lew
-
Ron: at this time only CA can change the handles contact them to see if they can do it Lew
-
Stephen: all depends on where you saved it ??? using windows explorer select your C: drive and do a search on "Chief" (without quotes) or it might still be in your digital locker ? you may need to contact CA's tech support on Monday ? Lew

Dan: thanks for the follow-up two weeks of confusion may be too much tho ??? maybe if all the regular posters only post here that may "force" the others to come on over I'm willing to post and simple "please re-post on the new forum" on the old forum but if some continue to answer new threads over there then ??? Lew
-
I have decided that trying to follow two forums is just way too confusing so going forward I will only follow this forum CA should disable the ability to post new threads on the old forum and leave it as a searchable archive only CA should also only allow access to the old forum via this new forum CA should also set the URL to this new forum as WWW.CHIEFTALK.COM Lew
-
let's try to bring some of the best information from the old site and update it with your latest experiences Dan: nice Idea and I thought about doing this but then I realized I am way too lazy and busy to do this when X6 beta was released I started saving a link to each and every thread where someone reported that X wasn't working or needed to be added to Chief I have decided to abandon this effort since it is planned to eliminate the old forum at some point no use having links posted on the new forum that will eventually be broken as for info in old threads I wouldn't even know where to begin to copy them over to the new forum nice idea - but .... Lew
-
Glenn: I found it once CA adjusted the resolution so I could see things on the right side Lew
-
post plans as large as 10mb Dan: fantastic this has been an issue for years.... Lew
-
Brian: thanks no more horizontal scrolling thanks Lew
-
'Change Theme' option. Change this to the mobile option Kirk: that helps with the resolution but the site is then VERY "un-friendly" for navigation etc Lew
-
so what happened to the New Thread button ??? I can reply to threads but not start a new one ??? Lew
-
I have the same issue I am using the same browser I use 1024 x 768 (720P) Lew
-
at 125% zoom I still have to scroll to the right to see all of the forum this is going to be a PITA for me I just had cataract surgery so maybe when I get my new glasses I can use 100% zoom and it won't be an issue CA if you can fix this please consider doing so for us "old farts" who have failing eyesite Lew

I agree that 1 year is not going to be anywhere near long enough way too much good info out there to lose it probably way too much to copy and post to the new forum Lew
