  2. Competence is a skill gained through careful study and then lots of fails and succeeds practice. Competence takes time and is more a gauge of one's persistence than otherwise. I am not that smart but I am persistent always. DJP
  3. The first thing, when confronted by something that is misunderstood or unwanted, is to carefully confront (squarely look at) to see what the settings are, what the situation is to then understand the string of causation you are looking at. It is there for one to find, always. DJP
  4. Meaning no disrespect but on both of my PC's X11 rocks, I cannot but consider that it is your machines and personal habits that are at work here and NOT Chief Architect software. DJP
  5. Such behavior is commonly caused by a corrupt software driver. The last time I did have such a problem was back in X1 and I had a corrupt mouse driver which when updated the unwanted shutdowns ceased and did not return thereafter. I would check and update those first. DJP
  6. What do you want it to be best at is a better question and how much are or can you spend to get the "Best"??? Video cards have a very wide range of price and a wide range of difference relative to what you may or may not want them to be "fast" at. I am just saying that it is more a matter of opinion whether or not a video card is the best. It has to be best for you and your budget more importantly. My current card was the "Best" two years ago, I paid about $600.00 for it, today's best card costs considerably more to buy, there is no pat answer. DFJP
  7. The method used should match the type of person you are sharing the plan with: 1. sharing with other Chief Architect Users you should use the "Back up entire plan to zip file" command found under the "File Menu" 2. with Clients or customers I commonly use PDF, panorama and 3D Viewer files 3. Rarely I share a complete plan file when the customer/client is very computer savvy along with a Chief Client Viewer The method used should fit the receiver of the files DJP
  8. I have chief 7 -21 on my PC's (2) and they all run just fine so I would suspect your PC hardware and your software drivers. The first one I would update would be your video card drivers (update them) and see if that helps. Provided your supporting hardware is good you should have no problems running any version of Chief. 9. I can help you, please contact me. DJP
  10. Read the Reference Manual and see for yourself is my advice DJP
  11. Greg, I haven't heard from you for a long time, how are you?

  12. "Copy-Paste" is a Windows-based command (control key - C key to "copy" and Control Key - V to "Paste", not being a Mac user, I do not know how that is done there). These commands are also accessible via Chief from the "Edit" menu, take a look and then practice using those valuable commands. DJP
  13. Chief Architect does not allow living space to be created in "Attic Space" <A>, not now, not ever, it is not programmed to allow that to occur. I agree with Madcowscarnival in that you should make a "save-as" copy of your plan, delete the objects currently on your "Attic Level", then build an actual second floor under the existing roof, straighten up the settings and then you can copy-paste-hold position the furniture and cabinetry from your failed plan to the new copy, so not all your prior work is then lost. DJP
  14. Please state what "Lenovo" notebook you have (if you know the model number of your video card, please say what it is). Armed with that data, then others can help you, without it, no one can help you other than God. DJP

  16. None of your posted images are "Vector View" images, they appear to be Ray Traced or PBR images. Vector View camera type images are only line drawings with color fills and so not use any texture materials applications. IT does appear that you have in your settings "Focal Blur" (I NEVER use "Bloom" or focal blur in my renderings or at least rarely so). DJP
  17. I did what Robdyck suggested and it also worked for me, holes gone! Thanks Rob! DJP
  18. Great job on the modeling work in Chief!, I looked and looked but did not find a "cause" for the visual anomalies, sorry. If you just want to clean up the unwanted visuals I suggest that you just create polyline solids to fill in the missing ceiling holes, set their material to match the surrounding ceiling and then drive on. That will only take a few minutes, you can set them on a custom layer so they do not show in plan view but only in camera views of your choice. DJP
  19. If you really are having your life ruined by this current policy, then communicate to Chief Arcthect Inc directly. Complain to Customer service or directly to Scott Harris (they can do something about it). Here on the forum, we have no direct influence. Chief Inc is a small company, so communicating your concerns there is the proper communication venue, not here. We solve solvable problems here not ones out of our purview and authority. DJP
