  1. Chief Architect does not allow living space to be created in "Attic Space" <A>, not now, not ever, it is not programmed to allow that to occur. I agree with Madcowscarnival in that you should make a "save-as" copy of your plan, delete the objects currently on your "Attic Level", then build an actual second floor under the existing roof, straighten up the settings and then you can copy-paste-hold position the furniture and cabinetry from your failed plan to the new copy, so not all your prior work is then lost. DJP
  2. Please state what "Lenovo" notebook you have (if you know the model number of your video card, please say what it is). Armed with that data, then others can help you, without it, no one can help you other than God. DJP
  3. I specialize in training and outsourcing to Home Designer users, please contact me DJP
  4. None of your posted images are "Vector View" images, they appear to be Ray Traced or PBR images. Vector View camera type images are only line drawings with color fills and so not use any texture materials applications. IT does appear that you have in your settings "Focal Blur" (I NEVER use "Bloom" or focal blur in my renderings or at least rarely so). DJP
  5. I did what Robdyck suggested and it also worked for me, holes gone! Thanks Rob! DJP
  6. Great job on the modeling work in Chief!, I looked and looked but did not find a "cause" for the visual anomalies, sorry. If you just want to clean up the unwanted visuals I suggest that you just create polyline solids to fill in the missing ceiling holes, set their material to match the surrounding ceiling and then drive on. That will only take a few minutes, you can set them on a custom layer so they do not show in plan view but only in camera views of your choice. DJP
  7. If you really are having your life ruined by this current policy, then communicate to Chief Arcthect Inc directly. Complain to Customer service or directly to Scott Harris (they can do something about it). Here on the forum, we have no direct influence. Chief Inc is a small company, so communicating your concerns there is the proper communication venue, not here. We solve solvable problems here not ones out of our purview and authority. DJP
  8. By Trey Ceiling do you mean stepped (like in the video I just did) or do you mean coffered (slanted at the edges of the room? DJP If you meant coffered then I need to do another video
  9. I did this is X11 using a fence - follow terrain using a custom "panel" I made using a polyline solid and a railing object from the Library Browser. DJP
  10. I agree with Eric above in that your question is too generalized to address: you need to tell us on what kind of roof, what pitch, how large, what exactly is the overall situation. Knowing that then others can help with useful suggestions. DJP
  11. "Edit - Default Settings - Dimensions - Locate Objects - Surfaces" DJP
  12. In Architectural your main choice is the use of a tool called "Edit Area" found under the drop-down menu called "Edit". What I would recommend is to temporarily remove the wall and window by the unwanted sink and then use the "Edit Area" tool to remove the sink. You "Left-Click" on the "Edit Area" tool to activate it and then left-click-drag a "Marquee" around the object or objects you wish to delete using the "Edit Area" tool and then once selected you hit your "Delete" key which should then remove the unwanted, arrant object. Then draw back your wall and window after the sink is removed. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/videos/watch/2511/using-the-edit-area-and-stretch-cad-tools.html?playlist=200 DJP
  13. My solution is to dual boot Windows XP x32 and Windows 10 x64 on separate hard drives. When I need to use antique software like Chief versions 7-10, I boot into XP where they were natively created to run, including their dongles. I have never tried to install antique software in Windows 10. DJP
  14. I have been using Zoom Meetings for a couple of years after ending my Go to Meeting account. I agree with what Mark said above 100% DJP
  15. I have X9 installed on both my desktop and laptop. It has always run reliably well. I would guess that you should consider reinstalling it and make sure it is fully up to date. Chief Architect (any version) can act in an unreliable way due to video card software drivers, mouse drivers which, as issues are easy to address (software device drivers are free from the manufacturer of the devices). I have never heard any repetitive complaints about X9's performance from any other users here either. DJP
  16. Found in "Edit - Default Settings - Cabinets" BTW DJP
  17. "URI" does that stand for "upper respiratory infection", I wonder? DJP
  18. Open the ".zip" archive file and then select and read the "Read Me Text file", it will explain how to install the images as "Plants" in your Library Browser. DJP
  19. I guess I am just spoiled in that I have been self-employed since 1979. I work mainly with local remodeling companies and some smaller custom home builders none of which are members of the AIA. I do work with several Architects who are AIA but they mostly do their own plans, I mainly help them with Chief Architect matters/problems, I have learned a lot from them about drafting and AIA conventions as well. DJP
  20. Thanks to you Charles, I now have a bright red cursor, thanks! DJP
  21. A couple of days ago, a person contacted me via my Craigslist ad that he had a custom home he wished to do and could I help him yada, yada. I said yes and then with only a cursory explanation of what he would like the house to be and look like, no site plan, no physical address for the property but he now wants an "estimate". I told him that there were too many unknowns for me to do so. He then wanted me pay me in advance for my estimated "services" to the tune of "$5,000.00" (I had earlier told him that the custom home plans I had done ran from as little as $2,000.00 to as much as $5,000.00 and the high end was because my clients changed their minds numerous times). To shorten the story, he wanted to pay my fee in advance but with a credit card and then I was to pay his "Surveyor" for him (this sounded totally scammy to me.) I refused and required only payment via Pay Pal or a personal check directly to me-his surveyor is his problem. I never heard from him again -- GOOD RIDDANCE. DJP
  22. I have never used anything but Chief since Version 4 to the present. Before that, I used a pencil, stencils and drafting board. What is the "big deal", I wonder. DJP
