  2. If you need one on one help, simple outsourcing I can help you if you have Chief Architect Premier (any version) or any version or title of Home Designer Software. Call or contact me today! David J. Potter
  3. This is done by the difference in relative above sea level heights. The main structure I usually set at Chief Architect default height of its first floor at "zero inches" in height, then the second building has its dialog box settings relative to the main structure (if that structure has a higher floor level, it is manually set to that calculated floor height. Then its Ceiling height is set relative to that higher or lower floor height. You then adjust your terrain height to those edited floor heights. DJP
  4. I appreciate the "Plug" but I am not a licensed Architect. What you should first do is to contact your local Permit Authority to find out what their requirements for plans submission is, then use that is a guide for moving forward with the plans. I or someone like me can create the construction documents generally but you should also engage a State Licensed Structural Engineer to advise on structural concerns and he or she should also visit your site to inspect its geology, taking into consideration the yearly weather conditions that intended property will need to withstand through its lifetime. A custom home is a huge investment and should be built on a foundation designed by a State Licensed person trained to protect your investment and family. DJP
  5. Actually, if you have the latest version of Home Designer Pro you can export your model as a "Collada" or ".dae" file which can then be imported into various rendering software packages (Lumion, VRay, and others), then dress up your materials and other objects to eventually obtain a more photorealistic product. The "Trick" is learning the process and the other software package. DJP
  6. Yes, in the "Olden Days" they did have serial port dongles (I never owned or used one) I still have a functioning 9.5 dongle that runs that version in Windows XP x32 on a separate HD on my PC that I maintain to run antique software, like Versions 7, 9 and 10. Versions 11-21 all run nicely within Windows 10 on my PC. Version 7 us a password version, Versions9-11 require USB dongles, the other versions I have use the modern online software lock system via the "Locker". DJP
  7. If there is, your main source of authoritative data is Chief Architect Inc Customer Service. Ask them. DJP
  8. In order to actually create such a 3D model, one would need dimensions of the existing spaces and the ceiling heights of those spaces. With that data any competent user of Chief Premier could then help you. DJP
  9. auto-generated roofs are based upon 3D Geometry where the distance from a gable's load-bearing walls and the angle (pitch) then determine the resulting ridge height. You can get matching perpendicular ridges manually by opening the dialog box of a hip or gable roof to find out the value of its ridge height (top input box) and then copy that value you wish to apply to a perpendicular roof plane. You then open the dialog box of the perpendicular gable roof planes, one at a time and then One: lock the roof plane's "Fascia Top" or "Baseline Height" values by placing a "Radio Button" by that value so its value is not changed by other changes you apply. Two: Once that is done you then copy-paste your copied "Ridge Value" you obtained from the roof dialog box of its ridge value you wish to match and copy-paste that value into its "Ridge input box". Three: when you then click "OK" you then have a perpendicular gable that has a matching ridge with its perpendicular mates. The action of changing the ridge value secondarily changes the roof plane's pitch or angle. DJP
  10. In "Edit - Default Settings - Dimensions" dialog you can: Change the font size of the numbers and dimension point arrows and on the "Primary" Tab change the fraction round-off factor which will also reduce the amount of space, dimension strings occupy. DJP

  12. I recently upgraded my PC to the NVIDIA 1080 which seemed to really smooth out general performance for me. Over the years I have seen lots of opinions from end users of Chief that Quadro cards do not help Chief's performance, they do help AutoCAD performance I have heard. What exactly are you specifically experiencing? DJP

  14. I help people like you all the time. I have a matching version of Chief Premier to your Home Designer Suite 2017. The only thing I cannot help you with, if required are with Foundation Design (Usually requires a State Licensed Structural Engineer who is local to your project's location, so he or she can visit your site and test its geology and weather conditions). Share the ".plan file" with me and I will then give you an estimate for creating a basic set of Construction Documents, less the Engineering if required. DJP
  15. What Chopsaw is referring to is that you call Customer Support or Tech Support in Idaho for help (they are available by phone during Pacific Time Office Hours, Monday-Friday). They should be able to help you, it IS YOUR responsibility to protect and maintain CD materials and serial numbers. DJP
  16. This web page: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/compare.html explains the exact capability differences between Premier and Interiors. I recommend you really study this page and what it communicates to make your initial decision. DJP
  17. If the work can be done long distance, I can help you from Texas. DJP
  18. What the person meant was to go to your "Locker" and then download and reinstall the software to repair anything missed the first time. Of course and you should Absolutely not. I have Versions 7-X11 on my PC as well as several Home Designer software titles, I just keep the different version plan and layout files separate, done it for many years. DJP
  19. Plan Views have a "Display Options" Dialog where objects on named layers can be turned on or off (visible or invisible). Each Camera Type has its own "Display Options" dialog where objects on named layers can be visible or not visible at your choice. This has been true in every Version of Chief Premier since the beginning. DJP
  20. In Chief Architect Premier, the command is found under "File - Export - 360° Panorama". This was true in X10 and is still true in X11. If you are asking about something else, then clearly say so. DJP
  21. I shared all I had with you already; DJP
  22. I agree with Eric, contact Chief to download the X8 Viewer or whatever they recommend. DJP
  23. Your best shot is to reinstall X10 and help him in X10. A lot of my Business is predicated upon working with others who have not upgraded, I have Versions 7-21 on my PC and I have clients who mainly use either Home Designer Software or older, unupgraded versions mainly X1, X8, X9, and X10. You just maintain lots of hard drive space and keep your PC clean and maintained. This is the only safe way to work with people who do not upgrade. DJP
  24. I can help you from Austin, Texas if you like. DJP
