  1. That would really be something no matter what version it opened in !! I suppose you might be able to set your file association that way but to have it work is another matter. I believe there is a way to check a DWG file to see what version of AutoCad it is saved in by opening the file in Notepad, but not sure that is the question either.
  2. I would try plot lines without fill and add a filled polyline with a blank line style for the roof in the layout file and unfortunately cad lines for the dashed overhangs. You may also need to turn roof planes off after getting the snaps you need or delete the odd plot line here and there. I don't particularly like the style but I think it can be done. Be sure and show him what chief can do automatically with shadows and all after you get an exact match to what he has asked for.
  3. If you go to Preferences > Folders > All Program Paths: > Show... You will find all the file paths listed. You are looking for "User Template Folder" I think.
  4. Not sure that was the intent of the request. I don't think Suite has an option to import DWG. Why not post the file and consider it done.
  5. Check out these articles: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00001 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00091
  6. Sorry... Call it a wall segment then. Select only the segment you want to adjust. Not as you did in the video.
  7. It should be stable if you only select the wall that needs to be adjusted in elevation view. If you need to adjust both walls then make one of them a copied wall type.
  8. Sometimes it is just a wall that is slightly misaligned or something that is not built correctly but other times it is unavoidable and the only way to get rid of the lines is to use the layout line editor and delete them at the last minute before printing.
  9. Most likely but hard to know what you have now. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/blog/computer-for-design-and-gaming/
  10. You can fake your floor plan but it is not easy to fake the 3D model or the electrical schedule or the material list so you might as well muck with it and get it done. Then make another suggestion to chief because it definitely could be easier with a little better programming.
  11. Joey and I are basically suggesting the same solution. You can still take advantage of all of the benefits the layout file provides by placing your title block and index table. But you may still want to consider sending your schedule from plan to layout to avoid complication and possibly other info as well since you can draw on the plan Client Info if you send from plan so as to avoid duplication all that information in the layout Client Info. Michael who is another macro expert gave the same advice for another user in a similar situation today. Also it was Eric that posted the global macro video for you above.
  12. It looks like you may have turned auto roof off a bit too soon. If you are doing manual roof you are on your own to make it work out but hard to say exactly what the issue is without a plan file but it looks as though the soffit is manually following the roof surface layer which does not always work out properly on a custom build.
  13. We have additional requirements if the stairwell is considered a Fire Escape which looks like it would apply in your situation if you were in my area. Which kind of makes sense as that would be the absolute worst time to hit your head and also the most likely when you are in a hurry. "Stairway headroom shall be not less than 1 950 mm ( 76.75" ) plus the height of one riser measured vertically above the nosing of any tread or platform."
  14. You forgot material but lets see if we get fill style first I guess.
  15. Yes quite possibly. I would like to see fill and material by layer options in ALDO.
  16. Since you asked.... Here goes. I do like the blue of the water fixtures on the original that chief is also capable of. Since you did the polyline fill it would be great to break it and pull it away from the interior window sills. Vanities and shelves could be the same fill color. ALOD - Active Layer Display Options.
  17. Lance, I believe that information is all contained in the .ini file. C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Chief Architect Inc
  18. Make sure it is parallel to the exterior wall and snapped to the surface layer.
  19. Based on the layout sheet you posted it looks like your are relying heavily on macro's. There are a few users that send their entire title block for page 0 from the plan file but it looks like maybe your are even a step beyond that and you have a custom title block for each page that relies on plan macro's so you may not even have a use for page 0 and would benefit from sending all your pages directly from the plan file.
  20. Yes I think there is an issue with doing that sort of thing between files. Is there some reason why that can not be in a text box in your plan file and sent to layout ?
  21. Wouldn't that be wonderful. But no only .dwg or .dxf as far as I know.
  22. Scott, I thought it was the "Top Edge Lines" that we could not control ? It seems that the "Opening Header Lines" are on a layer and can be controlled. That must be what you are using but would like the "Top Edge Lines" to have the same level of control ?
