You should be able to just transfer the file to your new system. C:\ProgramData\Chief Architect Premier X12 ** But not the Program_Data or .dat file apparently** https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00091/restoring-chief-architect-content.html

You might prefer to do it this way and use the Room Label along with it's other features.

Finding objects for house - e.g. kitchen island, cars, chairs
Chopsaw replied to bdillard's topic in General Q & A
Likely here if you can't find it in Chiefs Library. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/ -
Possibly... Maybe change the date or time to see if there is another issue. Dec 21 9:00 AM Perhaps.
-
Ok that seem to work for me. Is your Sun Angle & Shadows layer turned on and a line style and color that will show in your plan view ?
-
Can you post the link to the video ?
-
Try an Orthographic Top View with shadows turned on and see if that works.
-
It is a little complicated. Have you read the Reference Manual pages 921-926 ? I don't think many people here have used the feature as most consumer GPS units are not as accurate as taking site measurements unless you have a huge estate property.
-
If you select two or more items that qualify to use that tool it shows up on your active toolbar and the tool bar symbol is actually the one I circled in the menu.
-
Likely a few ways that could be done but the issue is you need to maintain an opening as well as framing. Maybe try building a wall with all the elements you need and convert it to a fixture > Inserts into wall. Or make your existing window a frameless passthrough and fill the hole with p-solids.

This might help you out:

Do you have a .gpx file ? Import > Import GPS data.... Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Framing, Truss - Editing 2D Outline / Profile

Thanks for clearing that up Chis, There is a lot of stuff that is not in the manual but you really had me worried there for a bit. -
Framing, Truss - Editing 2D Outline / Profile

Love to know how you did it. I just does not seem to work for me. Video perhaps ? -
Framing, Truss - Editing 2D Outline / Profile

Is that a new feature Chris ? It does not seem to work in X12 or did you select the existing framing members to trim to ? -
Rob I think you need to make one little change. I did not take it all the way through to chief but it seems to show the results right in the Substance Player 3D View that you are looking for. If it gets unruly in chief maybe drop Dustin a note and he could create another shape for textures that are not random. ( Chevron - Large )

So this appears to be a slight improvement over the previous 72 dpi export. Are you exporting from a 96 dpi resolution screen ?
-
Rob are you saying that this happens for you when creating PDF's from a camera view ? This is an important part of the discussion since the behavior is not the same as in plan views.
-
Sorry but I don't think what Chirs is talking about applies to the PDF files in this situation.
-
Interesting observation. It seems you are correct but I had not noticed because I usually export JPG for images. It must just be programming as it does not seem to be tied to screen resolution because it does work in plan view however if you try to export a PNG or JPG from plan view you have no control over the resolution even though the DBX would seem to suggest that you do. If you don't get a good answer here it might be a good question for Chief. It sure is confusing at times.

Possibly a similar situation to the discussion here: Hard to know for sure without a little more information though.

Property lines and/or seeing a line's length automatically
Chopsaw replied to TheoryDesign's topic in General Q & A
The line angle seems to respond to a change in Number Style but not the length. Is that what you are seeing ? Not very helpful for surveys normally done in Decimal Feet. Chief has Input Line and Input Arc tools that they recommend for survey use but it depends on your preferences if these are beneficial for you or not. Sometimes it is easier to just turn on the Length and Angle setting for a cad line and set it up for the beginning and then continue on by dragging a new line using the last edit handle and it will have the label already turned on for you but there does not seem to be a default for this since it is only normally used for plot lines. If you decide to do this having your start and end indicators turned on are quite helpful for fine tuning.
