how to recording the audio into walkthrough
Chopsaw replied to jacksfbay's topic in Tips & Techniques
You can use a third party editor to do that. Even the old Microsoft Movie Maker will do it for you. -
Interesting observation. I did not see anything about that in the update notes. There seems to be a new one but perhaps they eliminated two of the ones available in X12. It would be good to get an official answer but if you are missing them you might want to import your X12 toolbars or create your own custom configurations. I am a little confused about the logic myself.

I think that can be done effectively using Michael method. The rafter material is likely not the issue but rather all kinds of fascia being generated. I think you are going to run into lots of framing issues doing it that way.
-
The key to the polyline subtraction method or union as Michael suggested that will work best for this situation is the conversion of the arcs to polylines and that also gives you the opportunity to set the number of sides or facets you would like. Do you have an illustration of that ?
-
Yes you are correct that is not an automatic feature. However roof planes are polylines and can be shaped manually with boolean operations and polyline subtraction tools.

Still a good idea to have the ceiling outlet as that is the best place for the light usually.

Also a little easier to service if access is an issue.

Automatic dimensioning for wall stud spacing in elevation view
Chopsaw replied to waxahachie's topic in General Q & A
@waxahachie You are being more than a little bit disrespectful when two professionals take time out of their day to help you out with some good advice. You can use a standard elevation camera and switch from the Section View layer set to the 3D Framing layer set but you will need overlay a cad detail from view in order for your dimensions to have something to snap to. If that does not work for you. This is the place to have a respectful discussion about it but not to slam volunteers with downvotes. -
You can actually crop out the background of a photograph in a photo editor and then add that to you presentation as an image. Sometimes clients get a real kick out of seeing themselves in their virtual kitchen.

No but you could likely make one without much trouble from this:

Yes, just noticed. This is a HUGE letdown. The really fine lines looked great and now all the lines are too thick. I think they need to insert at least 2 lighter line weights in before Line Weight 1. It may just be a temporary patch. The problem was that when printed the line weight was only displaying as about 10% of the set line weight. So you would have needed to set it at about 30 to get 3. And 30 does look ridiculous on your monitor. I suggested to them that it should look pretty much the same on the computer screen as the PDF so it may be a work in progress still.

You may eventually be cramming for space on a 128GB drive. I filled my 256GB drive and got a 1TB SSD and still have all my versions installed.

Public Beta is 23.0.3.88 Release version is 23.1.0.38
-
It is available today in the release version.

I have not tried it yet but they may have made an adjustment so that it shows up properly when printed to PDF. ??

There is a certain amount you can do by manipulation of multiple schedules but as soon as you go beyond that capability you need a macro specialist.
-
It should be that simple but I think you need to hide your .ini file from chief in order for the migration options to come up again during the upgrade. I think Dermot helped me out with that a few versions back and I will try to find the link for you.

Automatic dimensioning for wall stud spacing in elevation view
Chopsaw replied to waxahachie's topic in General Q & A
You can get an entire framing layout using the Wall Detail tool and send that to layout with dimensions if you like. -
Do you still have "Automatically regenerate deck framing." turned on ? There is your problem right there. If you have edited a bunch of the other framing you can also manually edit the planking overhang.
-
Try adjusting the room height. Hopefully there are no others issues that will be created by doing that.
-
That does not exist in my version Joe.

There should not be any issue manually importing library catalogs into X12 Library > Import Library. Also the point of making X13 beta available to the public is for testing purposes so unless there is an issue why not use it. You can make a copy of your X12 files and label the original as x12 and the copy as x13 and work with the copy in X13. If you forget to do that X13 will archive an X12 version of the file for you just incase you need to go back. Hope that helps. Welcome to ChiefTalk

Exterior door symbol with pivot point a foot from the hinge side?
Chopsaw replied to parkwest's topic in General Q & A
Sorry your screen shot was not showing the first time I posted. You can get this far without too much of an issue for your 2D representation but if you want it to all look right in 3D you will likely need to use a door way and an independently placed door symbol or two on separate layers so you can show open and closed.
