Assuming the gable is over the exterior wall , break the exterior wall and set it to full gable , it will likely get more complicated if you have porches etc involved and may require manual roof work.
-
it would be clearer with a video .....I'm thinking you are mostly right.... and I don't know this method
-
Thx Larry always good to see some else do it .

Thanks for the Tips Jon , added to my Raytrace Notes.... I need to watch what RT videos there are , as the lighting stuff and dealing with glass , like in a custom shower is truly hit and miss at the moment ,though it doesn't seem well documented. M. -
Can't you copy the P-solid into a blank plan and in a 3D view save it as a symbol ? not sure if Millwork or exterior Fixture would be best. M.
-
AFAIK they no longer include samples with the Program , so there is just the two websites to check below , most peoples plans are copyrighted so you won't find them posted online is my guess. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/samples.html?utm_source=Chief+Architect+Premier+17.2.0.69+x64&utm_medium=software&utm_campaign=Resource%3A+sample-plans https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/samples.html?utm_source=Home+Designer+Pro+Trial+Version+17.2.0.69+x64&utm_medium=software&utm_campaign=Resource%3A+sample-plans

Yep , that's exactly what I did Joe , went back to plan view and deleted the Schedule there so I didn't get the double numbering issue which I was aware of from other posts. I should of noted that above.... M.
-
You can copy and paste schedules into the CAD Detail window too , and at least for me the Number system in the CAD Detail seems to work better/display better but I am not sure what the difference is with numbering in CAD vs Plan , though in the one I did this morning the Plant schedule totally rearranged itself on copy and pasting ,and the Plan view renumbered itself to match. you may need to edit/qualify 2.) a , though B. is still the best Idea, so I hope they implement it, sooner than later. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/4186-the-plan-note-key-schedule-from-a-plant-schedule-video/page-2#entry50044

The Plan Note (Key) Schedule From A Plant Schedule Video
Kbird1 replied to DRAWZILLA's topic in General Q & A
Well since you lot were no help I had to figure it out myself ......just joking ....chill , I discovered this looking at Perry's 1 schedule per floor method , and this works in my particular case , but wouldn't work for everyone I guess depending on the size of the Plan and where you have your Plan Notes placed. Use the Floor setting , 1 in both cases , AND Room settings , NOT "ALL" . - In the Plant Schedule set it to "NOT IN A ROOM" (ie all garden plants/trees) - In the Plan Notes Schedule set the Room as Needed , in my case the Ensuite. Of course this works fine for a small Bathroom Reno like this Job, perhaps not so well for larger jobs ( or you have Notes on the Exterior as many would) but then again it may not hurt to have a Plan Notes Schedule for each Room on larger Jobs too. Perhaps JC or P. can suggest some refinements ? this is still kinda new to me...but seems to work fine. -
The Plan Note (Key) Schedule From A Plant Schedule Video
Kbird1 replied to DRAWZILLA's topic in General Q & A
Thought i'd bump this topic rather than start a new thread on the Plan Notes Plant schedule Tip and keep all the info in one thread..... I have used Joe's idea of the plan notes in a cad detail , and after going to check it after adding a new note or two , I discovered the fact I placed 420 plants in the plan too ...oops, so am wondering if there is a trick for filtering the notes too one schedule and plants to another , or is this not possible with this Plan Notes Tip? Layers perhaps? -

Nice shot Jon, might be your tip I have from another post to have night ambient at zero. M. -
not sure what you are trying to do but you could use shift select , to group select the walls, then change the wall-type or definition as needed instead.

Pro does have many of the Premier Roof tools Larry , so he has Manual Roof Planes and the Join Tool if he needs them as you showed but this works per the KB referenced on Auto. I Just deleted the manual roof plane and set the Roof with a 3" pitch and 10" in the Upper box ( in from baseline is 50" not 75" like in example) in the front Railing wall's DBX . I set post to beam too but you may want post to ceiling on the rail too. You had used interior railing walls for your Deck instead of Deck Railing Walls , so I changed that , and set floor to 24" deep in the pic below for the Deck Room. If you set you garage finished ceiling height to default (9') you will gain a bit of room for your egress window too. One thing you are probably not aware of is that HD/CA software won't allow "Rooms" it what it considers it's Attic space (A Level) so to put your bedroom and bathroom in the Roof space you have to add a 2nd floor , over the house only (blank option) and set the finished ceiling to 0" (zero) , you can then draw walls and designate them knee walls as needed. See the plan below. You should be able to open this , not sure what you can edit in Pro though. New House with roof over porch 1_R1.plan P.S. the Home Talk website is over here https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/

Good Topic Scott , sorry I can't really help but will follow along and learn too.... I think nighttime would be offset by you nighttime ambient lighting in the 3D view defaults though ? , not sure where I got my settings but they are 52,52 and 0% for the different lighting levels but think OOB is 31,36,18 ? approx. -
I've never had an iPad so can't comment on that but I am liking it so far , though I haven't installed Chief yet , but will likely get a Bluetooth Mouse ,rather than use the Pen for Chief . I wish the Pen was customisable ie I'd like to swap the eraser and right click button , which is likely cos of how I hold it (incorrectly?) and the button on top too , since at this point I Don't use One Note so the top button is kinda useless. If you don't like the home button , you can disable it in the Surface App. Which Surface do you have ? did you find a Case you like for it ? I haven't so far. M

Window in Schedule but not in wall - only hole in wall
Kbird1 replied to mrscott's topic in General Q & A
You don't need to zip the plan Scott if it is under 25megs. you do need to close the plan before attaching to post , same as if zipping it up though. -
it may have been taken out of the Core Content and be in one of the Bonus Libraries now.... looks like Alan is pointing to this one http://3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?r=site/detail/872 you may need all the other Bonus Plant Lib. too.
-
if you just reinstalled CA you will need to Download the Core Library Content again from the library Menu along with any bonus and Manf. Libs you want/need. Your User library is a problem though, I hope you have a backup on another disk or can still access the old one ?

Video #1170 shows this technique too , it was done in X5 and is still relevant too. ( if it's still online?)

Print perspective view image, scale of 1 in to 1 ft
Kbird1 replied to elainelw's topic in General Q & A
I have only tried it once , but Pro does have a "Print to Model" option for making scale models on paper.... http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00149/ also http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00116/181/Home-Designer/Printing/Printing-a-Plan-at-a-Specific-Scale.html The main Home Designer forum is here too: https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ -
Ahhhh thanks Kirk , never thought to Shift select in the library like in a normal Window's way , I usually back them up individually....
-
Is that possible ? I thought only the individual folders or Objects within the User Library could be exported one by one...

I'm still not sure why they are ignoring their (mostly) Windows based Client's who have Laptops and Tablets (like the Surface) , especially since you can't use X7 on a laptop and Desktop at the same time without the hassle of activating/deactivating. I see it is now supporting the cheaper Bosch Laser Meter GLM 100 C , it also comes with it's own App, though it is only iOS and Android too.
