the Lower the roughness , the higher the shine, usually in the 4%-10% range things can get "glossy" , though it appears your camera angle is causing CA to bounce that reflection around the room more than it should .... M

I don't see a 3D model either, I just found the 2D DXF Cad file. there is 3D DXF files too but this doesn't appear to be one.... Check 3D Warehouse , see if Regency has there Library There too perhaps......

Do you have any invisible layers in the Wall definition for the Railing ? .....as I thought Newels always centered themselves on the Wall thickness ( not main layer) Ie make a 7" wide wall and the 3 1/2 Newel will still center on it.......

Twinmotion is now Free , but you'll need to be able to export the 3D model , Premier can do .dae or .3ds etc, I am not sure what options HD Pro has if any for that.... ( Eric will know if HD Pro can do that probably).......of course there is a learning curve involved if you don't have time to learn it or other new software.... Some of the Items on Eric's list are also not available in Interiors.....

It is a very capable Program on many Levels , I think with 2020 it now Includes All View Types eg PBR (Physical Based Rendering) which is the closest to reality currently. It is 1/6th the Cost so there is obviously stuff missing including Full Annotation and layer sets , but I'd suggest getting the Trial and having a play 1st, and see if it is currently enough for you, just don't be surprised when you "want it all" and feel the "need" to upgrade to Premier , even if you buy it the $500 is deducted from Chief Premier if you upgrade later. Though if you have AutoCad it looks like you can get $700 off if getting Premier currently. ( I don't think they combine Offers)
-
Are you truly going to switch or just want 3D capabilities? maybe HD Pro would suffice for just 3D? ( it's ConDocs are limited) it's cost is rebated against Interiors or Premier if you upgrade later , so that is another route... though if you have AutoCad you may get the discount currently available... it is new , so I'm not sure if it will always be available or is just a current promo?.

Like Jerry I have had the same thing here recently ...it's why I said go Premier Oh ...BTW if you already have another CAD Program ??? ask if you qualify for the $700 Incentive to switch to Chief Premier... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/offers/ You can get the Trial versions too and try them out , you just can't save any work in them....( leave computer on and don't close Chief)

Go Premier if you can , just know that RTB is not the cheapest Option currently ( 20x $199) vs $2795 ( $200 off currently) if you can finance it some other way , eg a family member or small personal/biz Loan at the bank and pay them $200 month instead. There is also the $500 yearly SSA to stay current after the 1st year if buying outright to consider, it is included while renting. SSA includes the upgrade to the next version btw. Mick.

I think you maybe referring to the Home Designer Series of Products , which has Suite, Architectural and Pro ,so it would be best to Ask over on Hometalk which is here : https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ If you use it in your Business ( seems like) get HD Pro at a minimum or better yet Chief Interiors or Chief Premier all 3 can be Rented to Own now too. Thought you might like it It's one of the few plans I have seen that causes all 6 cores on my 5820k to hit 100% ( using CoreTemp 1.12.1) ....going to a 3D overview Once in 3D it is no issue though, but my GPU hits full boost and stays there while panning around , most CA 3D isn't that intensive. * I cleaned up the plan a bit and reposted it above , but didn't see anything obviously causing any errors.
-
Certain Objects will use their own Setting I believe, if the check box is marked in 3D View Defaults , I don't use it normally ( So it's unchecked in the image below) so YMMV......
-
Hmmmm that's curious , what kind of error? I don't get any.... The 3'x5' Block is actually from a Plan someone posted on the Forum a year or two ago , I think they got it from 3D warehouse IIRC and while it does look good in 3D , I think the amount of CAD lines CA has to draw on a Whole Lawn might be what is killing it......pretty much the same as fill a whole Terrain Perimeter with a hatch fill spaced at 1/8". M.

I think the problem comes in when there aren't many or any layers to turn off, eg plants or "fixtures" .... eg this plan below which contains about 30-50 3'x5' true 3D Grass "Blocks" Be patient if you decide to play with the plan..... 3D_Grass_Texture_Torture_Test.plan

The is no "Center View" Key perse and unfortunately Fill Window and Fill Window Building Only don't always work/help in all Situations ie if it is HUGE then the window will fill and try to show everything in the Plan , which maybe centered but you could be so far from center as to not see the highlighted center handle ie you could be 6000ft up as I discovered in a 3D camera view recently and couldn't see the house or Terrain below. Did you try a Plan from the Archives Folder ? hopefully you have Autosave and Archive saves set up in preferences.... M.

If you have a Contact at Moen ask them to look at the Catalog Partners Webpage https://www.chiefarchitect.com/partners/catalog-partner-program.html There is also this post about getting Manufacturers "interested" in making Catalogues.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/5177-manufacturer-catalogs-create-a-buzz/

If it is not what Robert said my guess would be you have messed up the SAVED PLAN VIEWS ( which is what I think you mean above in RED not Layer ) , in which case in the Project Browser , open Plan Views and right click each one > Open Object and Check the Settings , eg Annoset and Layerset .... set for each Saved Plan View. Check your videocard drivers are updated , accessing the Label Tab was an issue for some last year I saw reported here and in each case the Videocard Driver was outdated. Eg Nvidia cards should be on versions 425.xx or higher M.

This is expected Doug as you can't have two Terrain Perimeters in a Plan , normally you just change it back to a TP after deleting the other one as you tried.... It is there , took me a few minutes to find it, but after making the Line-type PINK I found it in the Garage , not sure how you managed that though.

Changing deck railing thickness pushes railing off the edge
Kbird1 replied to DeckQuestions's topic in General Q & A
The Issue Connor, is the weird Wall-type you have as your default Railing Wall ( siding 1) , make a copy of the Standard Deck Railing and change the Wall width to 1.5 inches , then make sure to also change the Newels (posts) to 1.5 Inches if that is the Spec for the Railing too. -
Perhaps Check your Fills in Walls/rooms etc as Chief hates drawings thousands of (cad) lines. It's happening for me on Level 2 if I delete one of , or any of them of the Stage Below Areas in X10 , strangely the exterior walls are not so much of an issue here ...(top right hand side)

Turning on or Showing Arc Ends and Centers may help...... I think it's in all versions..... Defaults>Cad>General CAD >>> last check box.

Hi Jim , just to Clarify a Terrain Wall and a Terrain Retaining Wall act different..... so hopefully you noticed David used a Terrain Retaining Wall ( as I did above) not a Terrain wall. This video shows some of the basics and is worth watching all the way through , but the wall differences are shown at 13:44 though. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/75/terrain-site-plan-basics.html?playlist=101

I wondered about that actually.... though I haven't Raytraced in a while.... SSA is $525 now , think there is a 30 day grace period ?, but you'll need to call and check , not 100% sure but I think you can pay monthly too now.... , $700 is for a version Upgrade , so it is always cheaper to keep SSA active. M.

Are you confusing a 360 Panorama with a Raytrace?
