  1. Ya sorry forgot Doors and Windows being Parametric don't have "Symbol" status , it is how I rename other Stuff for Schedule eg a Generic Fridge or Washer and Dryer , Faucets etc , so the correct name shows in Schedule even if I don't have a true 3D model. Mick.
  2. did you change the Symbol Name in the Library or just the Object name? M.
  3. With a special Wall Definition it is possible, though I am not sure what other issues it may cause down the line. The biggest issue will be that you want the bottom of the slab 1" below the top of the Stemwall as Chief Automatically wants to place the Slab on the Stemwall due to the way chief uses Rooms and the bottom of the floor structure. The simple fix is to spec the floor slab at 3" in the room/floor settings and the use a 4" CAD box in Cross Sections though. ( 3rd pic ) ALT. Wall Def.
  4. The Symbol Name usually AFAIK but Windows and Doors being Parametric it maybe Hard-coded? I didn't play with it more.... I guess it's not using the name you gave it in the library?
  5. Could you remove the Lines in Layout if needed ? maybe not possible with this though ? M.
  6. Ah - huh , that's why I couldn't find it..... post was about the "Paint Spray Tool" not "Paint Can Tool" (Material Painter) You should put a copy over in the Tips Forum too... M.
  7. it comes from the OIP Description Field AFAIK which you can edit..... you can also double click it in the Component panel to edit
  8. I would not recommend this for Exterior Walls eg Stone vs Siding as it only changes the Material not it's thickness in the Wall Definition. There is a Post here on the Forum about "Best Practices for the Paint Can Tool" ...try a search for it..... Mick
  9. There was a bug with Edit Area early in X12, that's why I asked about another Plan ( more likely a defaults Issue) so I would report this to T.S. through your Digital Account. thanks. Mick.
  10. Are you pasting into a new Plan or just moving it over a bit? Pasting into a new plan may cause the Structure to pickup the "Defaults" for that plan .... M.
  11. Are they in Chief Plan File Format already? or do they need to be modelled in chief 1st? M.
  12. Additional licenses just went on Sale Tamela just so you know
  13. thanks Larry . Lots of changes under the hood in X13 , so I might need to follow CA's advice to rebuilt my templates off the X13 provided Templates. Mick
  14. Yes it just lets the Card come out of boost mode when it is no longer needed, and thus generates less heat , both for the Card and the Room you are working in, my 3080 is like sitting on a little heater at times..... M.
  15. Hi Larry , just curious if this was a Plan started in X12 or if your Template was built in X12 , as I am seeing some anomalies in those types of plans. ( and bad PBR) M.
  16. did not see this happen but I think they finally fixed the speed Issue I mentioned in the Chatroom a few weeks back..... seems "snappier" now hopefully not a Placebo Effect
  17. Handy for Porches etc where you want a full foundation under it like the house..... M.
  18. Might be a Template thing as like Doug said when you set the Default Stemwall height for level 0 to Default (36" from foundation defaults) it appears to build correctly. but let it auto build again and the 115 comes back .... delete the foundation and use Edit Area to copy building to a clean X13 template plan perhaps, as I am seeing other weird anomalies with plans Brought Forward too. Instead of making the porch wall a foundation wall in the structure Tab try setting it as Create Footing/foundation instead. Mick.
  19. 3.) The Bathroom and Closet Floor elevations don't match the main Space hence the extra Foundation walls still looking at rest.
  20. Thanks for the Report Back Alan, good to know. M.
  21. Good memory I knew it was a couple of versions ago , I still reach for the old button 1st....
  22. I have also done this , for example with different Cabinet Dims types as shown in the Video below ( not all Dims Videos are X13 refreshed yet but this one is) and think I will likely add a few more for specific situations too. Mick. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1595/dimensioning-cabinet-face-items-and-openings.html?playlist=92
  23. I think this changed in X11 as we can now shape layout Boxes, but as far as I know holding down the X key and dragging lets you resize retaining aspect ratio on both PC and MAC Mick.
  24. I had this issue myself and MarkMc pointed out the fix after finding it during his testing Reflections and Glass has always been a bit nicer looking in the Traditional CPU RT , but most now consider the PBR-RT "good enough" due to the dramatically different Time frames ie 3-5 mins vs 14 hours , unfortunately materials and lighting don't look the same in both so changes in one can break the scene in the other. ( I am not sure if ALL Materials in Chief are PBR Ready yet? ) No harm in just letting it run overnight , though it's been a while for me , IIRC there wasn't much benefit from running more than 50 passes. Mick.
  25. The ML isn't the most intuitive portion of CA unfortunately and you can't make a template like for Plans and Layouts for reuse but you can tune the ML to only show Framing Items and then update line Items to the ML Master List ( and maintain there) and then bring the Line item back into the current ML.
