  1. you may want to reconsider "sometime later" if going to buy outright as not only is the Sale over Aug.31st but the price is going Up 10% as well. just found this in my Email.......
  2. Not at all, I'm not a Mathematician so can't suggest a good alternative, but it essentially isn't an Option really since CA recommends you don't use Distance Rounding as it is only included for use with OLD Legacy Plans. May it be exactly what a Eng. such as the OP needs? I don't know, as I am not an Engineer either or know his needs, but we are talking about the inner workings of Chief, so it isn't going to change, since it's good enough in 99% of cases....I just know from posts here it is not infallible. Rounding Method Specify the Rounding Method used for dimension values. Grid Rounding ensures that the sum of the parts of a dimension line add up to the whole distance. To produce this result, some sections may not be rounded accurately. This is the recommended rounding method and is selected by default. Distance Rounding addresses each section of a dimension line individually, which could result in the sum of these sections not being equal to the whole. This option is available for legacy purposes only and is not recommended. See Compatibility With Previous Versions.
  3. It's the Default Setting OOB, so I clarified that for future readers......and there are only two options , so it's pick your poison M.
  4. Oh ok didn't realize the gap was deliberate for a post , looks good to me. M.
  5. Perhaps Show it in a Detail ( build just 1 panel to fit) as an "Option" and let Auto Handle most of it. just add a couple of manual verticals in the centre there after it stretches. M.
  6. Not sure really do-able auto Alan. would be a bunch of work as you can add a stretch plane to the width outside the panel eg if 42" make it 25", so it won't stretch, but the Panel would need to be the exact width you need between newels so likely not great time wise, and I cant think of anyway to give the auto 1" gap both sides. so you might be back to a 1/4" thick PSolid with the Mesh material in that case. and place and adjust manually each one... You can use two of those panels you made in an Open Railing and overlap them manually to get the 1" gaps.....
  7. I think IIRC the front needs to be side panel applied? Inset * and cabinet needs to be on a layer with an invisible line style , ie Cabinets, Base 2 ALDO needs to have show cabinet doors layer displayed, (solid line-style), box construction framed, and separation 0" Front and left are side panel inset, (for this LH end panel) Left Side > panel inset Right Stile needs to be 3/4" right side is an opening or none in X13 ( back also ) the last step is to set the General Cabinet Defaults to always Show Door and Drawers. it's IMPORTANT.....it will be invisible otherwise Mick.
  8. Thanks Kevin , and no I don't let Windows Update Drivers at all and also do not run Nvidia Geforce Experience as I don't use any of those "Addons" either, so do it manually every month or so unless I find issues , and then I usually Update my Nvidia Driver thread here for others, but wondered if this maybe a driver specific Issue ( or my card ) https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16205-nvidia-drivers-updated/
  9. just FYI most Metric jurisdictions write M2 as m2 ....as seen in the OP ie %"\n" + owner.internal_area.to_sq_m.round(2).to_s + ' m2'% (Thx. Eric) and I think I'd do it like Jason mentioned via TMM M. (Thx. Eric)
  10. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Latest Driver Release Version: 471.68 Release Date: 2021.8.10 Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 August 10th 2021 DCH: https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/179681/en-us STD https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/179679/en-us Notebook/Laptop https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/179682/en-us Mick
  11. Thanks Joe I am running 471.22 currently , 471.68 is the latest I believe. Mick.
  12. Hi Kevin, sorry to bring a downer to the party but I am not seeing what you are unfortunately, can I ask what Nvidia Driver you are using , I have a couple of small Cabinet jobs to do today and would like to try again with them, as I am starting to think my 3080 has an Issue....... Mick.
  13. Currently the MAC can not use the new PBR-RT View or Clay Views due to the hardware limitations..... But some on a PC with a 3000Series card could take your Plan(s) and do Renders for you assuming they have a 3000 series Nvidia Card. (Perry?) Mick.
  14. Probably a better idea indeed, it wouldn't take long using the Polyline Solid Cylinder and multicopy set to 4" to make a new Panel symbol actually. Mick.
  15. Thanks for the News Kevin , I haven't had time to play with it yet.... Mick.
  16. Use the Panel Setting and apply square mesh as the material ( only see through in STD View ) Most Clients I've had said it was called Hardware Wire in the US and usually 4x4" in size , pretty common at Farm Supply Stores apparently. think i set Chief size to 20x20 here ( don't link to pattern )
  17. There are quite a few Revit crossovers to Chief now for the reason you discovered .... as far as 1&2 I think a custom macro would sort that out quite easily , and if you don't know Ruby there are people here on the Forum who help out and others who have Macro packages for Sale too. 3.) CA generally does not recommend Drawing without the Snaps on, ( it is easily disabled with the CTRL Key temporarily if needed), you do not need to show the snap grid however. There are numerous things eg in CS , that still don't have Snaps though that seems a bit better in X13 is slowly improving version by version , but Wall Layers , is something many have asked for but has not be implemented at this time. Snapping to the Main ( structural) Layer or Surface is current available depending on your Settings. 4.) I am not an Engineer, so don't run in to it much myself but Chief uses Grid rounding by default (an option) which in some cases can cause issues I have seen reported here, I am sure others will comment on that, but all in all I find Chief very accurate if the Defaults are setup correctly. ( In the background I think chief works to 13 decimal points BTW ) You will also find the Community here is pretty strong with many giving freely of their Time.... Mick
  18. Yep , it does sound like the different Resolution Text issue that has been around for a few Versions now at least... Can't comment on whether it is fixed in X13 , though I have not run into it myself yet , there was a new update last night to x13 though. Mick
  19. Check out Mark's Posted plan in this Thread, to figure out the technique and make yourself a little Library of parts.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/31610-dimensioning-issues-with-x13/?do=findComment&comment=249890

  21. Ya sorry forgot Doors and Windows being Parametric don't have "Symbol" status , it is how I rename other Stuff for Schedule eg a Generic Fridge or Washer and Dryer , Faucets etc , so the correct name shows in Schedule even if I don't have a true 3D model. Mick.
  22. did you change the Symbol Name in the Library or just the Object name? M.
  23. With a special Wall Definition it is possible, though I am not sure what other issues it may cause down the line. The biggest issue will be that you want the bottom of the slab 1" below the top of the Stemwall as Chief Automatically wants to place the Slab on the Stemwall due to the way chief uses Rooms and the bottom of the floor structure. The simple fix is to spec the floor slab at 3" in the room/floor settings and the use a 4" CAD box in Cross Sections though. ( 3rd pic ) ALT. Wall Def.
  24. The Symbol Name usually AFAIK but Windows and Doors being Parametric it maybe Hard-coded? I didn't play with it more.... I guess it's not using the name you gave it in the library?
  25. Could you remove the Lines in Layout if needed ? maybe not possible with this though ? M.
