  1. It's Part of The IAMDESIGN Library.... (I think it is the Old Indital Library in X11... merger?)
  2. It's these situations the furred Wall setting is there for , so it may not be working as it should with the new release, you should report it to Tech Support and supply them the Plan. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00181/creating-furred-walls.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00925/using-marriage-walls.html Mick.
  3. You'll have to post the plan I think or at least a sample plan with the same issue then. Mick.
  4. Try setting the Dwarf (?) Half Wall as a furred wall on the structure Tab so it doesn't react to the main Wall when touching it. M.
  5. Yeah I knew that, and that was why I suggested He Tap you....
  6. I only mentioned you as I thought you maybe able to help Scott out , but there are any number of Services who could do it as well including Jintu (Chiefer) Mick.
  7. For the future I would suggest looking in how to do it (easily) manually too, these should get you started.......... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1521/manually-drawing-dormers.html?playlist=95 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1520/creating-openings-in-roofs-for-manually-drawn-dormers.html?playlist=95 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/9923/focus-manual-dormers.html?playlist=95
  8. Ahh yes I missed the Export part , I have always Printed to PDF too M.
  9. They still offer the X8 Viewer for doing this , there is a KB article about converting old plans which has a download link in it.... M.
  10. He said "who builds with a Scale Rule" , not who builds from the plans...... However I would say your Engineer and Print Shop are not Printing at 100% but allowing Adobe to use "Fit" instead, a common mistake as Fit is the Default setting. M.
  11. Happened to me yesterday too , trying to rotate a camera in the new release , I didn't see it in .38 Mick.
  12. I guess not , so I've done it for you..... you're Welcome.
  13. BEST-PRACTICE USE OF PAINT SPRAY TOOL AS A GENERAL RULE OF THUMB, USING THE MATERIAL PAINTER REALLY ONLY BECOMES A PROBLEM WHEN YOU ARE USING IT TO CHANGE A MATERIAL THAT IS BEING CONTROLLED BY THE STRUCTURAL LAYER SETTINGS OF A PARAMETRIC OBJECT EG A WALL OR WHEN USING IT WITH BLEND COLORS WITH MATERIALS TOGGLED ON. ALL OTHER MATERIAL CHANGES MADE USING THE SPRAY CAN ARE CARRIED THROUGH EXACTLY THE SAME AS THEY WOULD BE IF YOU WERE TO CHANGE THAT MATERIAL USING THE MATERIAL TAB AND ARE THEREFORE CARRIED THROUGH TO THE MATERIAL LIST AS WELL. MY RECOMMENDATION IS TO USE THE MATERIAL PAINTER FREELY AND OFTEN, WITH A FEW CAVEATS, AS IT’S ONE OF THE MOST EFFICIENT METHODS OF CHANGING MATERIALS, ESPECIALLY WHEN USED IN THE APPROPRIATE MODE (COMPONENT, OBJECT, PLAN, ROOM, ETC. – LEARN THESE AS THEY CAN BE DANGEROUS) FOR THE MOST PART, IT SHOULD JUST BE AVOIDED IN THESE SCENARIOS: ON EXTERIOR WALL SURFACES. IT'S ALMOST NEVER APPROPRIATE TO JUST CHANGE THE COLOR OF AN EXTERIOR WALL. YOU'RE ALMOST ALWAYS INTENDING TO CHANGE THE ACTUAL STRUCTURE OF THE WALL AND SO YOU SHOULD BE CHANGING THE WALL TYPE OR WALL TYPE DEFINITION. THE MAIN EXCEPTION TO THIS WOULD BE IF YOU'RE JUST CHANGING THE ACTUAL COLOR (PAINT) OF A MATERIAL ON ONE OR 2 SPECIFIC WALL SECTIONS IN WHICH CASE THIS WOULD ALSO BE ONE OF THE VERY FEW CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE USING BLEND COLORS WITH MATERIALS MAY ALSO BE USED EFFECTIVELY. AGAIN THOUGH, THESE SITUATIONS ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN. 99% OF THE TIME, EXTERIOR WALL SURFACE MATERIALS SHOULD BE CHANGED IN THE ACTUAL WALL TYPE DEFINITION. ON INTERIOR WALL SURFACES WHERE THE ACTUAL STRUCTURAL LAYERS ARE BEING CHANGED. PAINTING A DRYWALL ACCENT WALL IN A ROOM A DIFFERENT COLOR THAN THE REST? MATERIAL PAINTER IS TOTALLY APPROPRIATE. CHANGING THE WALL MATERIAL FROM PAINTED DRYWALL TO WOOD VENEER? CHANGE IT IN THE WALL TYPE DEFINITION. WHEN CHANGING FRAMING LAYERS. AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT'S IMPORTANT TO JUST LEARN HOW THE TOOLS WORK. THE MATERIAL PAINTER IS ESSENTIALLY A SHORTCUT TO THE MATERIAL TAB. THERE ARE A FEW MINOR EXCEPTIONS, BUT WHEN IT IS APPROPRIATE TO CHANGE A MATERIAL IN THE MATERIAL TAB, THEN THE SPRAY CAN IS GOOD TO GO, OTHERWISE, CHANGE IN THE STRUCTURE OR WALL TYPE TAB. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE FIX …. IF YOU HAVE ARRIVED HERE DUE TO PAINT CAN TOOL AND OBJECTS LIKE WALLS WON’T RETURN TO THEIR DEFAULT MATERIALS ………eg. SIDING AND DRWYALL 1. OPEN OBJECT AND GOTO THE MATERIAL TAB 2. SEE IF THE WORD DEFAULT IS SHOWN NEXT TO THE MATERIAL’S NAME…IF NOT….. 3. SELECT EACH MATERIAL HOLDING THE CONTROL (OPTION) KEY 4. CLICK THE SELECT MATERIAL BUTTON ON THE RIGHT 5. GOT TO LIBRARY MATERIALS TAB ( IF NOT SELECTED ) 6. CHECK THE BOX AT THE BOTTOM FOR “USE DEFAULT MATERIAL” 7. CLICK OK ( A FEW TIMES IF NEEDED TO BACK COMPLETELY OUT ) PDF : Best Practices for the Use of the Paint Can Tool.pdf M. 14. This and the New Layer are only needed if you only want to see the L-Shape in Plan View , personally I have several Client's that work with Door and Drawers on, so it is not an Issue, and it also helps with visually aligning Flush Fillers ( flush with the Doors, the norm these days ) which I build a similar way from a base cabinet. While it will work as Noted they can't be added to Style Palletes ( yet? ) a down side if you need to do "Options" for Clients, this way. ( why I use Base Cabinets) Not on it own as it can't report to a Schedule as Gene and a lot of others need it to, but as an Overlay to show the CAD L-Shape in Plan Views, if needed yes. M.
  15. Thanks Gene , always happy to help if I can. Mick.
  16. Personally I didn't say anything about lost functionality, and I am not sure Mark did either, just that it wasn't working in X13 as expected it seemed, as it had in X12 and he was figuring it out, but he thought it might be a Layer issue, though it was the Cabinet Default setting "Show" not being ON in the X13 Template in my case. In the X13 Template I used to test with, the General Cabinet Default "always show closed Doors and Drawers" was off and I had asked Mark what it might be ........as it worked in his X12 Plan. Hence my reminders in the Tip Forums too *** 1st Set General Cabinet Default to always show closed Doors and Drawers On *** https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/31824-15-filler-with-panel-attached-vid/?tab=comments#comment-250551
  17. Check out the HomeTalk Forum too as most people here don't know Pro ( most have Premier or Interiors ) and won't be able to answer specific Pro Questions. AlsoWhen watch Videos make sure the Pro Version is listed , the same on the KnowledgeBase ( KB) as an applicable Product. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ M.
  18. I am not sure anyone said that ....... JJ Mick.
  19. Un-mull it - open dbx change - re- mull them. Set Window separation to 0" as well in Defaults otherwise you will have a 2" ( 1 stud) gap between window ( and Doors) so they won't bump tight. Mick
  20. Small Business/personal Loan ( or friends/family?) or Visa and pay it off would be Cheaper for sure , renting is the most expensive option long term ( add 20%) but also an easy way to get the license over the next couple of years if the Jobs are still a bit thin at this time... Since you have been Renting already , I believe if you buy outright now , they rebate some of the rent against the purchase.... have a look at the Rental FAQ. but I am not sure it count's with Sale Pricing.... I would suggest emailing Sales since in Europe and see what they can do for you this coming week. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/software-rental/ You can purchase at any time. You will have a credit of the amount you paid, less the prorated rental fee, toward the purchase. The rental fee for each product can be found in the Terms and Conditions of the Software Rental. Example: If you decide to purchase Chief Architect Premier after 4 months, you would have a credit of $669* toward the purchase. Upgrades and Additional Licenses do not qualify for a rental credit toward purchase for this product.
  21. I guess you didn't click the link in his last post.......it's done and dusted......
  22. Thanks for the Play by Play for X13 Mark , appreciate it. *** 1st Set General Cabinet Default to always show closed Doors and Drawers On *** ........it will be invisible otherwise Mick. *** Cabinet Side Panels How To.plan *** 1st Set General Cabinet Default to always show closed Doors and Drawers ON Cabinet needs to be: 1.5" thick Countertop and Kick OFF Set Height as needed eg. 34 1/2" or 90" etc Set Depth - 24 13/16" if you want it to align with the Doors on Cabinets - 25.75" for Fridge Panels next to countertops. Framed Box construction with Separation 0" , and Stiles 0" Front needs to be side panel Inset Left Side : Side panel inset, (for this LH end panel) with Right Stile set to 3/4" ( reverse for RH) Right side is set to NONE Back is set to None Put Cabinet on a NEW Layer with an invisible line style , ie Cabinets, Base 2 ALDO needs to have cabinet doors/drawers layer displayed, (set to Black solid line-style) SAVE ITEM(S) TO LIBRARY AND RENAME AS APPROPRIATE ! *** the 1st step to set the General Cabinet Defaults is IMPORTANT.....it will be invisible otherwise
  23. Bit of a play in the Metric template this morning and it seems the Wall Bridging is Hardcoded to 38mm , not taking the stud or plate spec'd thickness
  24. I don't remember it myself, and thought it used the same thickness as specified for the Stud or Plate by default * see below , appears to be hard-coded at 38mm Setup the framing in your Template Plan to use 45mm and you won't need to do it again. I am not 100% sure why Chief's Templates have always set the default to 38mm in the Metric Templates, apparently nobody checked real world specs, (direct conversion from 1 1/2" I think) thus I have always done the above each version.
