  1. Try to learn Auto-roofs a little better and it will lessen your stress. They are actually extremely powerful once you understand them. In Fact Eric (@solver) is one of the best with the auto roof tools. Some projects I don't need to do anything to the auto roofs, sometimes it gets me 90% of the way and I adjust at the end. In any case What Eric says: Is kind of true, They are ultra finicky. However I would venture to say that 80-90% of the time it is because a roof plane is out of place in one of the X,Y,Z axis planes and it is causing the issue. The most frustrating is when one of the gable sides works and the other doesn't! haha. It is definitely something that could be improved a bit and has been suggested many times.
  2. Might need to include your plan to get help on this one.
  3. It is determined by the house specs. You set the Terrain how far below the House main floor (0 point.) you want it.
  4. If you can find a 3d molding in the bonus catalog that will work (they are limited so if you need exact you will need to make one) you can use a molding polyline.
  5. Wall Material Regions are very helpful in this scenario as well.
  6. Do you have any manually placed ceiling planes that are not snapped to the drywall or main layer by chance?
  7. Not 100% sure of this, but I think there has to be stairs in the open below room to trigger it…
  8. You need to provide a lot more information. Are we to assume 1.) you are sending it to layout 2.) By exporting you mean you are using the Chief PDF printer to print to a pdf, 3.) That you are sending the same view as preferably a plot line view to the layout and not changing the layer-set afterwards? Maybe some screenshots at least and best a plan file would help get some answers.
  9. Not my expertise but assuming the trick is to place the walkthrough for the second floor on the first but changing your camera height otherwise just stitch the two videos together???
  10. Yes very surprised! I guess with your description I was under the impression you were looking for an experienced drafter. But best of luck on your search. Texas is a great place to live and work.
  11. Automatic with using a shadow board...
  12. First time ever hearing that one. Curious now. Please post the plan.
  13. This has indeed been considered at length. A recent search will show this gets discussed usually weekly including in x13. The general consensus is to make your railing wall wider without changing your railing size. So if you want to offset your 4" wide railing by 2" you would make your railing wall 8" wide and your top and bottom rail would be 4"...
  14. The bottom "window" was created from the top window. I created a regular triangle window> I didn't mention but when you create the new symbol you will want to rotate the window in the Y axis 180 degrees so it is pointing down.
  15. Same idea as Michael gives but just used the standard window shaped it to how I wanted the triangle then used the "Convert selected to Symbol" tool and created a fixture that inserts into wall, changed to window layer and include in schedule as a window, and in x13 used the Windows labels layer for the "set custom layer" option.
  16. I created a roof but the light still went through. Chop knows much more about rendering than I do. I just know that lots of times when it is a light bleed it is something that is not placed properly and is reflecting the sun from the outside as its penetrating the roof, there is no roof, or the roof is not placed properly and joined together. I would just say toggle off the sun and see if it persists so you can rule out one of those issues.
  17. I do not have those issues and you can see my system specs below. Both my older desktop which I use primarily and my laptop seem to do find. A little slower with my desktop but no real issues with the laptop.
  18. Just to make sure the obvious is done make sure there is a roof on it.
  19. As mentioned you made a change to one of your defaults. Change it to the default set you want to use for that view and save that view.
  20. Active defaults means you manually made a change. Change it to the set you want to use and save the view.
  21. Didn’t look at your plan but a ramp may also work for your needs there.
