  1. Yeah, that is why I think I will stay with the way I am doing it now and just adjust on cross sections. However I am not seeing the hatching across all layers in x13. Perhaps it was like that previously? I hardly ever used it (only for prepping marketing materials for builders) the tool so never noticed on what layers it went across.
  2. Try making that wall a partition wall (wall type>wall definition).
  3. I like this idea the best. However I do believe chief has given us this ability to some degree but it is a little counter-intuitive to how most of us use the program. 1.) Set your wall definition hatch to what you want to see on your sections which may be nothing at all. 2.) Use the wall hatch tool to set the 2d plan view fills you want.
  4. Perpendicular room divider at furthest point.
  5. Pony Wall with solid below and railing above set to follow stairs for first part. Regular wall for last part with the break in the stairs lengthening those stairs over the wall.
  6. Only thing that I can add as a tip that might help is when you are editing framing manually make good use of cad lines, extend objects, and cut objects tools to trim and lengthen multiple framing members at the same time.
  7. This was previously available with exporting the information regarding window glazing/insulation values, etc. to RESCheck Web to run energy code compliance checks. Perhaps they added the ability to export in another format?
  8. Change the line style for that wall type?
  9. As I mentioned above it is a quick fix if you are looking for a pic to send to layout especially if it is a closeup of something you want to show as a detail. As always on chief there are many ways to do things and depends on your use case.
  10. 3d Framing layer set OOB, but any pony walls that are foundation walls will show the sheathing, siding, and drywall. You can use the temp remove surfaces tool to get a picture of what you want but I don't believe that you can get them to turn off live. Maybe someone else has a trick to show only the framing?
  11. There are other ways to do it and probably one of the more easier ways that I have found is create a 2nd (or 3rd if necessary) floor with no roof above set to the height of your parapet walls that you want. Then change the floor system to be what your roof system will be. On the main floor you will want to select your exterior walls and set them to hang floor system above on wall (usually with ledger) and the exterior walls above should be set to balloon frame through to floor below.
  12. Lots of very talented people who can handle this work for you. One of the best in the forum would be @Renerabbitt
  13. Using the railing tool they are evenly spaced unless you break the railing wall (and change definition or interior/exterior side), or you can input a doorway between where you want the posts. For Dimensioning them you will need to place some type of cad item to dimension to as the posts are not dynamic. However if you use the doorway method to space your posts you will be able to dimension to the edges of the doorways which is the edge of the post in this case.
  14. Option key never did that for me with mac.. Maybe you had a hotkey set. However if you use the X or C you will get a concentric resize of the box (from the center of the image).
  15. Not seeing the lag you described can you say in what particular view that you are getting the lag? Have you tried restarting your computer?
  16. Sorry but very unclear what you are missing or looking for. Some screenshots, a plan file and a better description of what you want or what isn't working would help you get some assistance.
  17. Did you recently move your location of your template files? Try opening Tools>Layout>Referenced Plan Files and making sure they are pointing to the right location.
  18. X12 or X13 probably easier to do in the Master List.
  19. His picture shows them perpendicular to the roof pitch which is what I have always seen myself.
  20. I will ask the obvious question as we don’t know anything more than what you stated here. Is the ceiling plane layer on IN THE CAMERA VIEW layer set you are using? What view are you using? screenshots, plan files, and descriptions of how you are taking the 3D room perspective view (ie a saved camera, which camera tool, etc.) would help diagnose the problem.
