  1. No that tool is strictly for 2d cad work or layering in 2d views. You will need to create the actual symbol and place it correctly in the X,Y,Z axis. I am guessing you copied this from another thread, and as Dermot recommends in that thread the program comes with free technical support when we carry current ssa coverage, since you have x12 per your signature maybe you still have ssa current. Call technical support and have your product registration key handy. But they are great to work with and that is why the professionals who use this program are very willing to PAY the price for the software... Best of luck on your endeavors.
  2. As always. Model it like it's built. In this case you have two layers of materials there. A background material and some lit "tiles" that stick out. Make a texture of the background and build a resizable symbol with a light behind it and manually place them in a wall elevation view where you want the 3d "tiles" to stick out.
  3. What you are describing shows that the box is open somewhere. Possibly you were connected to another monitor last time you imported. If that is the case go to Preferences>Reset Options>Reset Side Windows
  4. The box is opening behind another window possibly on another screen.
  5. Try toggle textures under 3D menu options.
  6. They are probably stuck on your other screen. Try preferences>reset options>reset side windows
  7. It was taking it from your defaults. But you had manually adjusted the rooms to not follow the defaults. Best except where you have mixed floor systems (different size joists or conc. slab with raised joist) on the same floors to leave all to follow defaults and then adjust your floor defaults so that everything changes if you need to.
  8. This is chief's bumping to allow for trim to be installed without having the cut-off look. Of course with as-builts that sometimes does happen. With chief there are always different ways of doing things. In this case 2 come to mind. 1.) If it is only a few windows, turn the interior casing off on the window and close dbx. Place the window the 3" away from the wall. Turn Interior casing back on for the window. 2.) You can turn the ability to bump the windows by casing off in Default Settings>General Plan Defaults>General Settings.
  9. Do you use a 3d mouse? If not careful and you can skew your views with it.
  10. So it appears there is a glitch. I would send it in to tech support. The error was able to be fixed once I set all the defaults correctly but only after I placed a joist direction framing reference and manually changed that to the 16" depth did it start building correctly. I am guessing maybe you placed one of those and put in the 5/8" sheathing thickness instead??? But it should be overwritten once it's deleted and go back to defaults which is where I believe the glitch is. BTW you have all of your floor heights changed in your model manually instead of using your floor defaults so there are other issues as noted above and in this picture:
  11. As @madcowscarnivalmentions it is showing a step in your footing. It can be turned off as it's on it's own layer. Search the Aldo for "Footings, Step markers.
  12. FYI not sure if you saw there was a small update released today that specifically handles a bunch of Mac issues.
  13. I have a hunch what Scott says here is possibly your problem???
  14. It will connect as long as it has a platform to connect to and the origin end are within 6" of each other.
  15. You cannot place it in the Parent menu for Cad Lines but you can place any library item on your toolbar and move it right next to the line parent tool.
  16. This is actually with my old template that is brought forth from x12. Still refining my new x13 template. It works just fine without offsetting foundation if you build the foundation to the exterior layer of the sheathing.
  17. Let me give this a shot: Wall Type 1: Wall Type 2:
  18. Not positive and not at computer but I think to get this to work you have to match up the closest tread to the upper surface instead of the lowest. Just like you would on the other examples.
  19. I think you are asking a different question Mark.
  20. I’ll bite. Mick, next time you are down in Panama ice cream is on me!
  21. I had that issue with google drive sync even though I do not use it for chief. It was running in the background and it caused this issue. Not running and no issues.
