1. I am about 50%. I have no formal training. Started with DesignCad in the 90's. I have always concentrated on 3D and did some rendering using it prior to switching to Chief. Bought Planit for a month and turned it back in as it was much more than what I needed, Being a remodeler I use Chief for 3D presentation for kitchens and baths and of course other projects. My real weaknesses are ConDocs and proper structure for all the details etc. Since I supervise the work I usually don't get overly detailed as would have to if I were designing for others. We do not do new construction so again, never needed to develop the skills for full drawings with condocs. I will be 64 in a couple of weeks so doubt that will change. But who knows, I may want to continue design for many years yet. I really should work on my weaknesses.
2. Better learn everything from your 8 year old before he/she gets any older ;o)
3. I just had this happen recently. I just went back and looked at it and the condition still exists. I deleted one of the cabinets and reinstalled and no problem. Weird. Fortunately it was in a pantry closet and not part of the main kitchen I was doing some 3D work for so it didn't present a problem. I had installed the cabinets and stretched them just for plan view purposes. Not my design....... DiCaprio.zip
4. Archijef is good at this kind of thing. Haven't seen anything from him lately....
5. Your title should be Brett Kansas,DRE, Directly Responsible for Everything!

7. Maybe someone can do a pool as to who upgraded and who did a clean install? I have no idea how that is done. I know clean installs are generally regarded as better but don't know if I'm up to it. ;o( I did not know that win 10 had that option.
8. No invite for me either. Not sure I want to migrate yet based on some of the problems
9. Scottisimo, I think I was correct in assuming you are used to CAD tpe of entering lengths. In CHief you can start drawing a wall and then hit the tab key and then enter a dimension OR I think most of us rought out the shape and then click an auto-dimension or other dimension and enter the "wanted" dimension. IT is a different way of doing things but works well once you get used to it.
10. Scottisimo,

I had my 7 year old granddaughter last week and we were designing her house. She had no trouble drawing the walls.
You must be overthinking something or locked in CAD mode in your thinking. NOt trying to be negative just pointing out that it is really easy so you must have a mental block on how you are trying to do it. IT does not work like CAD drawing although you can do it in a very similar manner. There is more than one way to do a lot of tings in CHief.
11. SCott - click right click on whre it says library browser.
12. Scott - in the tool bar section right click on where it says library browser and go to tool bar configuration and select extended tool bar configuration. Is that what you want?
13. Glenn (and others) I am an idiot, I am an idiot, I am an idiot!!!!! Not that we have that clear. In actuality I was selecting a polyline used for the screening. I THOUGHT I was selecting the railing section. One more time for clarity I AM AN IDIOT!!!! Sorry for wasting everyone's time. G'day mate!
14. Ozgur - seriously, that looks pretty good!
15. Joe, I have it named as a deck in the room definition box. I wanted to rebuild one wall/railing section that had been a 6' section of wall for a TV and the owner decided against it. So I want back to just the railing like the other sections. Went to rebuild that complete railing wall section but the icon for build wall framing was not available.
16. I have a deck that will get part of it's area enclosed for a screened porch. I have it listed as a deck with post to beam selected for the railing and of course a roof above. The standard deck section I get the option to frame one "wall" but I do not get that option for the railing sections that are part of the screened porch. ;o( Why Chief??? I made changes (had one section a wall) and went back to railing so there are now studs in that one section. I know I can delete manually BUT........
17. Joe - the answer has to lie within the posts you have received to date. If you think not then post the plan.
18. Well the thing that caught my eye the most was that the girl has a nice butt! ;o)
