  1. Hi Guys, Been gone for 6 1/2 years, retired, but am working on something for our neighborhood and I cannot find scalloped siding. I am using version X9. I though (big mistake) there was some in the library but I cannot find it and a search came up empty. Hope you are all doing well Dennis Gavin
  2. Never mind. Found it! I can see better when I have my contacts in! ;o)
  3. Hi All, Been retired for a few years and am now using the program for some personal things. Had a shut down and my file is corrupted. I forget where to go for previous file. Looked under program files and program files86 in chief folders but nothing there. Need help!
  4. Looks like your lights may be set as point lights versus spot. Should be spot lights set to -90 (pointing down) and adjust from there.
  5. what I have done is use raytraced shots in movie maker with some motion and it gets the idea across with much better realism if you are able to do good ray traces.
  6. Also, if you wanted a puck but not the big spot you can use the settings from the rounded light for the puck. (I know you know but other newbies may not think of that)
  7. Well you know golf. Some days OK. Some days not. But I keep trying. Really only started playing golf about 2 years ago so I have a LOT of practice to do. Usually get out about 4 times a week. Mostly executive courses. ( 9 hole). I have 38 executive courses to choose from(total cost is $144/yr) and 12 championship which you have to pay for. Cost varies by time of year and particular course. There are also many courses outside The Villages. If you ever leave "The Magic Kingdom" feel free to visit. Thanks for asking!
  8. I am a retired remodeler who designed with Chief. Only have X9. Live in central Florida, The Villages.
  9. there is also the distributed objects tool that may work in some situations.
  10. I got it years ago and have had no problem. I seldom use it.
  11. There is a free program called squirlz. You can save a picture of your pool, import it into squirlz outline the water and apply water movement and then save as a gif. Chief does not provide this kind of option.
  12. What version of Chief are you using? Cause reflections are in last few versions in one way or another.
  13. Any chance that in the update process the card Chief uses got changed to the on board graphics card?
  14. First thing - do the as is plan and save. Then from the as is plan do a save as and give it a name and then start your design. When I was in the business I would do accurate drawings, dimensions for the area I was going to work on but would eyeball the other areas so they looked correct. Many times only adjacent rooms etc. Usually always put a roof on it to stop "light bleed" at top of walls etc. Light bleed shows up in ray trace views. I often sent views from the as is plan just to show the transition. You can however get more complicated with layers and demo walls to overlay the new or existing design to show demo walls etc. There are threads on this you may want to search for.
  15. You can overcome this problem by exporting the object from chief in 3ds, importing it into sketchup and then change materials there. save and reimport into chief.
  16. have you tried 3D wharehouse? https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/262c311e57eaed8229695ec09b98af5/Wooden-Lobster-Trap open in free sketchup, delete the parts you don't want and save. Import into Chief.
  17. OK, thanks guys. Since it was mentioned in their trailer I thought it was open for discussion. General articles don't necessarily indicate how it will work in Chief. I'll hang tight and keep an eye out for pre-release stuff.
  18. Any other input on what to expect from physically based rendering?
  19. Also a link in their monthly newsletter I got today.
  20. I see from CA you tube X10 trailer that there will be physical based rendering. Exactly what is that and how will it effect the look of output?
  21. Oh - I was also missing the tile on the lower shower so used the floor tile.
  22. Tamala - Here is the plan with adjustments. The RT was done in Chief with a one step auto correct in Microsoft Picture Manager. Check settings for image properties, lights, materials etc. I moved the shower glass out of the scene as it was giving me trouble same as you experienced. Tried different glass and settings but was still not happy with results. Not sure what is going on with that. You definitely need some lights to create any kind of effect in this bath. I just used recessed lights but you may want to use sconces etc. but set very low. Also with sconces I usually offset the light source off the wall about 12" otherwise the light is too bright on the wall. Tamela_bath.plan
  23. I remember in the past seeing a card that supported 16 lights. That was at least 2 years ago if not longer. Forget which card it was.
