  1. I'm looking all over the control panel but cannot find monitor utility. Maybe I should leave well enough alone?
  2. OK, I have heard over the years about overclocking. Pros - Cons and can/should I do it? IF so HOW???
  3. jon - hopefully you are good friends with the array and multiple copy tools! very nice!
  4. When I was growing up I knew of no one with the first name of Gavin. Now it's everywhere. Oh, got called Gavin a lot anyhow. My sons get called Gavin a lot. Something with the name......
  5. No, I just used a PS. Susan said she tried that and it didn't "read". I am thinking she meant "show"? I was just posting to show that IT seemed fine to me. OR am I missing something?
  6. Susan - what do you mean you couldn't get it to read through the glass? Seems to work OK.
  7. jon - Nice! Didn't know about that.
  8. OK, gotcha. I did the same. Years ago Shawn McCadden (I think) had a system to do that(proposals) using tools that already exist. Never really used it and no way I still have the info, unfortunately.
  9. Hi Lorraine, Welcome to Chief. Never heard back from JL_Bass so am wondering why he/she bothered to even post. Fell free to call or email with any questions. dennis@gavindesignbuild.com
  10. I think most only tease those they like!
  11. You're welcome. We all get lost in the weeds from time to time! ;o)
  12. Joey - Excel uses formulas to calculate sums. Now, macros could be used in conjunction with them I imagine (I am not a programmer or that good at advances math). The formula simply tells Excel to add, subtract. divide, multiply numbers in a range of cells. You do need to know a few of the formatting symbols for some things but it is very basic. Of course you could make tings much more involved/complicated depending on what you are doing. I bow out at that point! ;o)
  13. If you use the spray painter and select the icon for plan it will change all the instances of that material. Make sure the blend tool is off.
  14. I did build a 2nd story on a good size ranch house this way. As Larry mentioned it saved rerouting the existing electric etc, did not have to mess with ceiling pops. It was basically a piece of cake.
  15. You can get the flankers to join if you use hold down the ctrl key and resize. If you use a small exterior casing it will close the siding gap. BUT they are a pain.
  16. I would do the floor, zero height or maybe 1 1/2" if adding plates(or whatever)and then add another floor for the second floor, which to chief would be the 3rd floor.
  17. Mick - Good idea. Will keep that in mind........or at least TRY to! ;o)
  18. While your carpenter rate is a good one I differ with your view of "reasonable" for someone doing CAD with Chief. A sub (1099) at 15/hr would have to pay 7 1/2% for social security as well as file quarterly taxes and have their own insurances. IF you work at a big box you can get $15 and they pay the SS plus other benefits and there is no need for insurance. IF you cannot pay more and still make a profit you are doing something wrong or have really low end clients. Something does not add up. Not trying to beat up on you just presenting my point of view. Cheers!
  19. Thanks Joe but I have done it with fillers and molding polyline. Just wanted to see if there was something I was overlooking.
  20. yes - looking to create it so it looks like a pre-built unit.
  21. Chief's bay window selected from the window icon. Raised floor and lowered the ceiling but I don't like not having a jamb with casing.
  22. Besides doing a molding polyline around the opening.....
