Light bleed is a real issue with the ray traces. You also see it a lot on interiors. Sometimes putting a roof on helps stop it. I run into it when doing kitchens and baths as I am not doing a whole house, just a room or two. CA REALLY needs to address this.
-
Rob - how about posting the shot?
-
Rob - Turn off all the fixtures. Increase the ambient light in the model. Place a few point lights in the room at about 5-6' off the floor. Make the glass on the fixtures highly emissive, maybe 80-90 so they LOOK like the are on. Also, if there are windows set the sun to shine through and use the north pointer to rotate the sun angle. Usually 8-9 AM or 6-7 PM will get you a low sun to come through the windows. See if that helps.

place on the floor and them move to where you want.

JL, IT is good to check in with he forums when you post a questions. I have noticed my notices are not returned as quickly as they used to be. Also you have to select notifications when you set up your profile. IT is also good to include some contact information in your signature. I am waiting to hear back from Sandy about getting together so keep on checking in and provide contact info so we can touch base with you.

Randy, Delete the shed. Draw your roof planes over the side walls and up towards where the ridge will be. Only draw partially and then use the roof join tool. Break the main roof edge at about where the ridge of the A roof will be and drag that point up. Then use the join roof tool to join the valleys. Look for videos on CHief's site for manual roofs.
-
Are you saying you want an A roof and not a shed roof? Not sure what you want when you say gable roof.
-
Hi Sandy, The other CHief users I know of only do basic stuff with it. Getting together to share techniques and resolve problems would be great. I only have a home office. Either of you have a conference room or something similar? I have a laptop so can travel easily. Let me know . My time is somewhat flexible.

Here is a molding I made from a 3D warehouse symbol and a sample plan with it applied to a molding polyline. Feel free to improve on the molding polyline. I just did a quickie. downspout.plan downspout.calibz

Have you tried 3D warehouse? https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/

"I will record several frames of finished view walks," Not sure what you mean by that. I have done ray traced shots and then put them into movie maker to create a "video" IT is not a walk through but the RT shots are sequential.. Better quality than a standard walk through just not a continuous flow.

IF you drag & drop it will automatically be a fixture. Use the import process to set name, type of item (electrical, fixture, etc.) and sometimes adjust the offsets for the 2D cad block. -
Cannot find one in forum or 3D warehouse. Anyone have one or several of different types?
-
If you block the three windows you will get your exterior sill but that does not fix the interior. NOt sure what is up with that.

Welcome Robert, One tip in advance. If you are having difficulty with something you may get asked to post the plan (PTP) if we cannot figure out the problem based on your description. To do that you have to have Chief closed and use the more reply options, browse for the plan and then click attach and then post. I think you are good up to 25 mb. after that you have to zip it. This is a great forum. Enjoy!

Johnny - so are you saying you did it for free to show what you could do or was it paid and you got the go ahead based on the render/RT? Just want to clarify.

Best guess. KInd of like dead reckoning from boating! ;o) Now who would want to rely on "DEAD" reckoning?
-
Dan - so THAT is where all the money is going! ;o) Glad to hear you guys are on top of things!!

What I meant was my old LOWER weight! I have enough extra now for a petite female. Now if I could just FIND her! ;o)
-
even when I'm right I'm wrong! ;o( Thanks guys.

I have never used the plus or minus designation for dimensions but want to but I am checking it and nothing is happening. I have a dimension, clicked on it, opened the dbx, unchecked default and selected + or - but no change. What am I doing wrong? I will PTP if necessary.
-
Agreed! The only thing I want from the past is my old weight! ;o)

Perry - I wish Chief has some of the features like radiused edges and the like for making symbols. I did not know they were still around. I don't think my old copy will even load into windows 7. Here are a couple of renders from YEARS ago!
