  1. Scott -- I did play with that when I was trying to find the problem. It did not seem<br />to make a difference at the time. Things are working now but I will keep an eye out for that.<br /><br />Thanks for the feedback!<br /><br />
  2. If you get too far from 0,0 there is more trouble with Z fighting. Not sure how far out it starts. There is another setting that helps but I cannot remember what it is. Maybe someone else will chime in.
  3. Classic Z fighting. IS the plan far away from 0,0?<br />How thick is the stucco?
  4. Looks like you are using focal blur or my eyes are worse than I thought.(possible) Try turning that off. Increase exterior/daytime ambient light.
  5. This post is getting as bad as politics! ;o)
  6. Scott - I also got it. Opened the deck dbx, selected structure, changed the decking to what I wanted, closed out of structure and opened deck and unchecked automatic for planking direction and then rebuilt framing. Started with the open deck. Repeated for the roofed deck and it held. There is definitely some VOO_DOO necessary though. Maybe Chief can splain the procedure because I don't really understand the "controlling" factors! Sheesh!! Thanks for checking.
  7. I thought I did? I must have forgotten to click attach. ;o( McDonough.zip
  8. I have set framing and joist direction as wanted but chief makes the planking parallel to the joist so I selected the room with the roof unchecked default for plank direction and reframed. No problem. I do the same for the open air deck and I lose it. Check on retain deck framing when deleted to no avail. Need some help.
  9. The actual opening already exists for a 9' slider unit. I will be removing it and framing for a smaller French door with two windows. And yes we also call the studs king and jack studs.
  10. Hi Mick - Wanted 2 studs between door and window. I have moved on having done it manually but<br />was wondering if I was missing something. My next idea was to have 0 trimmers for the door and<br />two for each window. Have not gone back to try that yet.<br />Thanks for having a look.
  11. Joe - If uncle Tony has been on a binge and eating pepperoni that ain't gonna help!
  12. Blake - I really miss Bermuda. Went there on a cruise many years ago and the only bad part was the cruise. Swore next time I would fly there. On the cruise when everyone was gorging themselves on the buffet I saw the help fishing with hand lines off a "porch" below decks and wished I could go down and have a beer and fish with them. The stay on Bermuda was too short because of the time it took to boat there but what time I was there I loved. You be a lucky guy! ;o)
  13. To be honest I think we have to fight back and have homeowners do the same. I am not big on just taking whatever "those in charge" throw out. Frankly I am sick of it. I think NAHB, NARI and the communities we live in have to voice their opinions to the politicians and say enough is enough. Now who has the ba||s to do it? I have been fighting regarding having to pay a gross receipts tax in advance each year and so far I have not for several years. Anyone else pushing back?
  14. Just noticed that you are in Bermuda. How could you not be happy! ;o) Glad it worked out.
  15. Had some trouble here also. The old clicking on plan via the start button yielded nothing. Then retried and got the two plan open message. Eventually got things working.
  16. This person IS NOT your client! Nothing good will come from this. If for some reason you decide to move ahead maybe you could enlist the aide of the local building inspector to suggest that the things she wants are not code friendly or some term that makes it seem against the code without actually saying that. Even if that worked I believe there will be a long list of other unpleasant things to follow which very well may effect you getting paid in full.
  17. Larry - Yes, I want to have solid PVC trim between door and windows. i.e. 1x6 ripped as needed and then again to frame exterior of "unit".
  18. Shane, Actually what I wanted is as attached. I did it manually but was looking to do it with auto-framing. Thanks for responding.
  19. I am trying to get two trimmers between patio door and windows as well as two trimmers on outer side of windows. I cannot figure out how to do it. Help please. Sommar Porch.plan
  20. I think it picks up the width of the "door" and makes it a bi-fold based on the size. I just created a symbol today for a sidelight 14" wide and converted it to a door and it came in as bi-fold. Not Good!
  21. Lorraine, Are you using Chief for design build or designer only?
  22. Make it from scratch with polyline solids for best results.
  23. Maybe in your user catalogue? No biggie. Don't need one was just curious.
