  1. He doesn't say what version he wants converted, version 10 forward, just open the plan file in your newest version. Version up to version 9 use the methods above.
  2. I have used open 2 layouts when a new version come out since I started using Chief. I then copy any items(like notes , details) to the new version profile layout, never had any problems opening a second layout.
  3. in X10 for me on my p.c. open chief then hold down the control key then open a 2nd layout, works for me. you can cope from one to the other.
  4. Not sure how anyone can give you a price based on those drawings, where is the project located? That makes all the difference in the world. Here in California that would be a 30 page drawing, not so much in Arizona but it all depends. Again here in calif. we would have to draw the whole house-- no partials' . Are you removing windows in a room that needs some window area per code? retaining walls usually require engineering and soils testing.
  5. you should watch the Chief videos on remodeling, too much to talk about here, new and existing wall types needed on different layers etc..
  6. I also use railing / post to beam and adjust the newls and rails to whatever you need, been doing it that way for years now.
  7. Any DWG or DXF files sent to me, I always just trace over them and never use cad to walls, it's just never worked good for me. It's easier to just put the DXF file in the background and trace using chief walls.
  8. I have been showing PDF's in my layouts for 15 years without any of that kind of problems

  12. SCOTT YOU CAN RETIRE AND STILL DRAW.
  13. I think I'll be drawing until I'm dead b/c I like it and wouldn't know what to do without it.
  14. Couldn't you just leave that ceiling plane in place and make it a drywall material to cover up the bottom edge.
  15. has it been 17 years, just that much closer to you know what.
  16. X10 is not supported in window 7, maybe that's why
  17. Are automatic openings checked in your stair defaults?
  18. I have a 2nd floor in every plan I do, just for that purpose. weither you have a 2nd floor or not in your plan makes no difference if you don't use it.
  19. I always as a default set my interior and exterior walls on separate layers, also exterior railing walls. It makes it a lot easier for site plans- live and for editing.
  20. my B&W's have always been printed in Grayscale but designed in color, you just need to be very selective of what color is needed for good grayscale.
  21. I usually just export each layout page needed in acad forma,t but you can only do 1 page at a time. there is some fix-up for them, but they have never complained about it.
  22. This was years ago but I came to Chief from Softplan and at that time Chief was well ahead of Softplan in 2005, been here ever since.
  23. My builder clients print everything in color now, finally, homeowners love it.
  24. Send as many views to the layout , then re-scale as needed, keep it live.,
