  1. I have a 2nd floor in every plan I do, just for that purpose. weither you have a 2nd floor or not in your plan makes no difference if you don't use it.
  2. I always as a default set my interior and exterior walls on separate layers, also exterior railing walls. It makes it a lot easier for site plans- live and for editing.
  3. my B&W's have always been printed in Grayscale but designed in color, you just need to be very selective of what color is needed for good grayscale.
  4. I usually just export each layout page needed in acad forma,t but you can only do 1 page at a time. there is some fix-up for them, but they have never complained about it.
  5. This was years ago but I came to Chief from Softplan and at that time Chief was well ahead of Softplan in 2005, been here ever since.
  6. My builder clients print everything in color now, finally, homeowners love it.
  7. Send as many views to the layout , then re-scale as needed, keep it live.,
  8. What if you have changes? for me I spent a few days importing as dwg or dxf and fixing them up using chiefs cad tools so they can be changed. Over the years they all change so be ready for it. Once done , easy to work with
  9. talking about not fair, I now have two NFL teams to root for and nobody cares.
  10. One good tip I learned using plan views is to open your project browser--open plan views then select one or many then right click and open " open object" and right on top is floors, then change it to use any floor. this will not change your layout views and will keep them the way you have them set up in the layout.----now I never have that problem.
  11. I just open and close the view sent to the layout, this is especially true when starting a new job and coping and renaming the plan file then open the layout re-link it and the old elevations still exist
  12. yep, walls always stop at the roof planes
  13. Update all views has never updated elevations for me either.
  14. Scott, could you check on my Charges and see if they have a chance this year. maybe the Rams if they don't.
  15. You need to move the roof planes up in the "z" direction using the transform -replicate tool to get the taller walls
  16. we would be laughed out of the building if I wanted that around here.
  17. If the model is not built right then your cross sections will not be good and will be a mess. work on your model to get it as close to perfect as you can. For me I sometimes will have a problem with the foundation slabs but I can then use the auto detail tool to get that looking good. Good luck
  18. you can see if another floor will show up
  19. very nice, I don't get many screened porches around here, good info for everyone. I bet you could sell those pre-made walls.
  20. You can also try to setup the exact same toolbars for every type you have. if you have different toolbar setups they will always move around on you.
  21. Thanks Joe, not sure why I might need it though.
  22. I do it like Joey using anno-sets ,having a different anno-set for different conditions.
