  1. I know there is some info for energy calc's in the ML, useful for the calc's, Other than that, I really haven't used it at all. Also, it's almost too much, to set it up to be accurate for remodels. I have my new walls and existing walls but there is much more setup for those. Not sure if I could ever get remodels very accurate. Yes good topic for a workshop to learn all about it.
  2. Thanks Joe. you would think those were solids.
  3. There are some torus's in the lib.X7 in the Shapes section. I just did a catalog update and there were lots of changes to the core and others.
  4. All my plans and layouts are from X6 then saved in X7 but I tried a new profile plan from X7 with the same slowness.
  5. I checked with the rainbow tool your materials, and you don't seem to have the, "S:\Chief Architect\BDS Catalog\Materials\Textures\Masonry Block 8x16 Stretcher Diffuse.png" material available for that wall. anotherwards ,No texture.
  6. Joe, you always know how to put it so elegantly. Did Scott really tie you in Golf?
  7. I have done about 19 jobs in Beta, full Construction doc's, and not had any problems that I couldn't deal with. I like it, other than X7 being a little slow.
  8. Nice system, that should work for you for many years. How much was that puppy?
  9. Dermot, I think that's exactly what happened to me a couple of times b/c I drew the existing plan first, than re-save under (New remodeled) name, but the layout views do not update b/c I forgot to relink the layout to the new plan. How stupid is that? I usually start out drawing the new first, (it's really an as-built plan) then saving it as Existing, and just continuing with the new plan so I don't have to re-link. That is what I normally do but I sometimes lose my mind and screw it up. I chalk it up to lots of nagging and the Grandkids driving me nuts.
  10. For me , it was changing the link to the existing plan in the same folder. I draw the existing plan first then when I'm done with the existing I do a save as ,to the remodeled plan, and continue from there, designing the new. I also only work from 1 template layout plan. So I then have to re-link it to work off of the new remodeled plan. I am not sure if I did it or Chief did it. Probably me.
  11. Most printer manf'rs, after a while, don't update their drivers like they use to, they want you to buy a new one.
  12. I would think it's your drivers as I don't have any problems printing from 8.1 but I also don't have your printers either.
  13. Just happened again to me, had to re-send to the layout. Not sure why though.
  14. Did you frame the walls and turn on wall framing in that view? If its a barking Seal then call the sharks.
  15. I wonder what the process to become n Architect is, in Moscow.
  16. Basically don't use the wall covering DBX b/c it paints all the walls in a room, use the "wall material region" tool instead, for the tile only, or just break the walls and create a new wall with tile on them. Also don't paint walls.
  17. I have had 1 plan that wouldn't update the floor plans, I just re-started Chief and it worked ok, not sure what happened.
  18. Has anyone tried making the upper wall a framing only wall, I know you will have to swap the walls out just for that view.
  19. Do you really want the liability for that, I don't, Let an engineer do that and just include it in your price. I do that with every job I do.
  20. Of course Revit does a lot more than Chief, it better, for 6 grand min. I really don't think Chief wants to go that way. They all have their programming problems. I believe Chief really want to improve the program using Chief tools and concentrating on what it does best.
  21. Yes but that has nothing to do with ray-tracing. Check your ray-trace defaults. I also notice a general slowdown in X7 but it is still in Beta, it should speed up when the release is final.
  22. Isn't it better to seek largest base you can? Seeking us common folk, is just a better business plan. Sell more programs, make more money. Architects also love Chief, b/c it's that good.
