  1. Rod, I leave that one on all the time.
  2. Don't forget about reference layer sets so you don't have to draw anything twice. Great, and time saving invention.
  3. I have found out that my problem has to do with a section of the registry that is wrong, and won't allow the update to run, they will have a fix tomorrow, or a few weeks from now. Who knows.
  4. I know that if your Disto shuts down during measuring, ( which happens a lot), then you have to re-connect the Bluetooth with room planner
  5. If you don't use the California fill then every hip and valley becomes a bearing beam. Saves money to do it.
  6. Nope, only goes one way but that would be a great suggestion.
  7. I have been practicing on my own house until I get better and faster, I'm certainly not ready for prime time yet..my big hands are always touching around the edge of the screen. I also have a mini iPad and think I will have to get the big one.
  8. I get the icon, and it says my computer is ready, and ok. It just fails when update tries to download. I also have 600gb left on my hard dive
  9. Thanks, Dan. My problem is that MS won't even give me the update yet.
  10. Thanks, I think it would be an easy fix if Chief would just add a cross box to that DBX also.
  11. Ok, usually when you pick a newel you go to the lib. and choose one or 5 different ones, wouldn't I have to associate a cad block for each on of those. not sure I follow how it automatic for all the different types of newels.
  12. My update says it failed ,10 times, and everything is updated. I think MS is waiting for some driver, possibly for my SSD drive and Samsung's magic software that comes with it, but no way to know.
  13. Yep, not if the beam has no fill and it also should be dotted. I just put those on a different layer that's dotted
  14. I really don't want to limit myself to one type of newel and I really don't want to create 15 of them. I'm talking post to beam newels, they should also have a cross box.
  15. Not talking about Deck posts, I'm talking Newels in railings in which I use several styles of them. Can't we get a check box for those also.
  16. It would be nice to also have cross boxes on Newels in railings b/c I like to use a railing wall (posts to beam) in a lot of porches and patio covers.
  17. POST A DRAWING OF WHAT YOU WANT HERE.
  18. We always leave the existing sheathing and shear edge nail it at the existing wall or beam.
  19. Use a tablet pen, my fingers are too big also
  20. I think part of the problem is that if you happen to lose room definition, it will sometimes revert back to the defaults, possibly with you NOT knowing.
  21. Chief just doesn't do any valley plates, automatically, the only way is to make them yourself, I would tell the builder to take a hike, if you want them, it's an extra charge to do it.
  22. I would create a new floor system using the 2nd floor rooms involved. You might need to use room dividers to break the rooms up to get what you want. Chief will fill in the ceiling joists in the leftover parts of the garage. The math on heights need to be correct.
  23. You can use a truss base even if you don't have trusses
  24. We call it California tie-in. do it a lot here
