I've seen some of his details that would be very difficult to model. He also does very large projects, not sure how chief would handle large projects, is the engine there?
-
did you use the truss base, look it up.
-
Jonny does some very nice stuff in other more powerful programs than Chief. I'm not sure its possible in Chief in it's current state.
-
Thanks guys, I think my point is , there really is no way to drop a separate ceiling into an existing space without a lot of fix up, even the room label ceiling heights are wrong.
-
Me too, and I already have my 2d details drawn ( have lots) I usually just bring a 2d detail up and modify it and save it as a new detail. very few cad lines if any, mostly for cover-up of sections ,but that is limited if the model is the best you can make it and clean.
-
You can also create a separate layer or Anno-set to send elevations to the layout using whatever line weight and color you want.
-
Ok, but my elevation lines are still in color, just can't send in full color. like a rendering
-
sorry, I don't remember exactly where
-
I don't know, it's automatic for me and always has been, its set up that way, do you have color on when you send it to the layout Try to have color on when sending. For me everything about color is on including the pdf print driver. It's only when I actually print to paper that I choose greyscale. Colors will automatically go to greyscale, depending on the color, your stuff will be lighter or darker.
-
no, not the way I do it. everything goes to the layout in color, then when you print to pdf ,you can decide then if you want color or grayscale.
-
Just going by what I read from Microsoft. Even the generic versions are not done yet and they released it early for back to school.
-
I have win 8.1 pro and have read that they don't have the complete pro version ready yet. I suppose that's the reason I don't have it yet.
-
try this, then print in color. If you then go to the printer, tell them to print grayecale. Try to keep your colors on the dark side so they print well. You'll have to experiment with this to get what you want.
-
Thanks Joe, I'll give it a try.
-
You can also just add(3-) to the label but it would be nice to get the header correct in the first place.
-
Yes, damn spell check

Is it built like a house? If so ,why not.

All the heights are set in the room definition DBX. Don't ever drag anything down, you will cause more problems, set your floor defaults first.
-
Ok here is what I'm talking about, it seems you can use Glen's method using a room divider but you can't keep your roof on the same plane, it will drop down ,so we are left using a ceiling planes for a true soffit. Of course it would be great to just use soffits but they don't frame, that would solve all of the problems. video here. http://screencast.com/t/JktjssFgTGn

use the slab footing tool in the walls section and draw it just like a wall
-
And if you drop a ceiling in half of a larger room, you must repair the open end of the drop side. Several way of doing it but I find to put an opening in that wall ceiling high will look good in 3d but not look good in 2d. you can also use a p-solid and even a pulled up wall. Choose your poison, I wish Chief would fix this, it's similar tothe stair triangle problem.

Scott My wife says otherwise.

HOW DO I MAKE THE OUT LINE OF HOUSE DISPLAY ON SECOND STORY
DRAWZILLA replied to ddestimate's topic in General Q & A
Also you can set up your wall defaults to have different layers automatically so you don't have to think about it as you draw them. You can also change to ,and or, set up your reference sets in a view already sent to the layout. Just right click on the view and go to "Plan Display". -
Glen, to me it's still a vertical slab b/c you can't modify it, or select it. A mono slab is something you can work with and create a foundation plan with. The vertical slab cannot generate a foundation plan ,ever.

Framing or something showing between basement and 1st floor
DRAWZILLA replied to SingletonRW's topic in General Q & A
Make sure your wall are set to default height. Just guessing without seeing a plan
