  1. I keep this icon in my toolbars for quick total (all) floor changes. if you have 5 floors they will all show up in the DBX. of course you have to raise the roof if auto roofs are not on.
  2. There is a "create line style" tool in Chief, try it. If your having a printing problem just increase the line-weight of the line. out of the box it might be set to 1, I use 12 to 200 depending on what I need. I would keep that 1=100 the same and change line weights as needed. It does mean to go through all your layer-sets and change them but once set up you wont have to do it again if you use templates
  3. It also has to do with new features in every version. What would happen with those new features that aren't in the older version, you might just get a conversion that is half gone. I'm sure we wouldn't like that. There is just no way to do it without losing content.
  4. Yes, and that walk-line must have the required depth of tread at the 12" mark. It looks like your curve at the bottom of the stairs is too tight, needs a bigger radius to get that 6" min. at the end of the tread.
  5. Yes but I don't have time to model everything, I would lose money. I want to find symbols on sketch-up or in the lib. I couldn't imagine, solid modeling a high rise building with solids, when a program has all the tools you need. I'd prefer a program that does most of the work for me, then I can customize it.
  6. If you want the materials list to be correct, if you can ever get that right, Create a different conc. stem wall with a fill and only include those walls in the material list. Create your foundation and just change the foundation walls ( you may have to break them ) to your new wall type. I do it all the time, do the same for new and existing walls in your plan
  7. Here is the code form Calif. taken from the IBC
  8. Yes, had it since 2010 ,an upgrade from 2003. Now they want you to go with the subscription, outlook (office) 365. . I don't think they make a stand alone version anymore.
  9. It does in Win 8'1 and outlook 2010
  10. Yes it does do framing/ structure for commercial buildings.
  11. Also check the code books, if that is a new stair, as shown on your floor plan it could be illegal. The photo of the stairs look ok. Hard to tell.
  12. Yusuf does some very nice ,out of the box stuff ,but as most of us do, like myself, we have to also show the structure and how its built, there is more than just 3d views. I know ,Yusuf has to then go to another program to do this, It would be nice if Chief could also do the structure, but not at this time and I don't think Chief would ever be interested in that level of sophistication. Unless all you do is 3d views, we need to think about more than just the 3d. Someone has to build it. I think Yusuf can do it using other software. I guess you could design the structure using all p-line solids but that's not my bag. I'm pretty sure Yusuf uses Chief just for the 3d stuff, and that's ok and might be the case for a lot of others. If it were me, I'd use one software "Revit" for that kind of design stuff and save a step along the way. Of course it cost a lot more.
  13. Nice dummy video for setting up anno-sets, very important ,and easy for massive time saving, everyone should do this. of course there are more settings now, and you can even talk about MRLS because it's included in X7
  14. Rod, I leave that one on all the time.
  15. Don't forget about reference layer sets so you don't have to draw anything twice. Great, and time saving invention.
  16. I have found out that my problem has to do with a section of the registry that is wrong, and won't allow the update to run, they will have a fix tomorrow, or a few weeks from now. Who knows.
  17. I know that if your Disto shuts down during measuring, ( which happens a lot), then you have to re-connect the Bluetooth with room planner
  18. If you don't use the California fill then every hip and valley becomes a bearing beam. Saves money to do it.
  19. Nope, only goes one way but that would be a great suggestion.
  20. I have been practicing on my own house until I get better and faster, I'm certainly not ready for prime time yet..my big hands are always touching around the edge of the screen. I also have a mini iPad and think I will have to get the big one.
  21. I get the icon, and it says my computer is ready, and ok. It just fails when update tries to download. I also have 600gb left on my hard dive
  22. Thanks, Dan. My problem is that MS won't even give me the update yet.
  23. Thanks, I think it would be an easy fix if Chief would just add a cross box to that DBX also.
