Dennis, I used Designcad for many years prior to chief. Still keep up with it, ver. 25 just came out. I have too many jobs drawn on it to give it up. Great program for cad work.

For me, and I do nothing but Con doc's, all the time, the 3d framing views just isn't there yet, needs more work for me to show 3d framing. It's getting closer with each new version. I really don't want framers looking at the 3d framing views and trying to build from that. Too many mistakes at this point for that. I really use Chief as a basic start ,and cad detail everything that needs one.

yes, just add another floor, whether you want one or not in your default or template plan.

You also have to change it for every floor in your plan

I was just thinking it might be a hot key that undo's something or got messed up somehow.

I always hit the save icon before I close. I must say I haven't seen that problem.

I guess I do use some regular text for labels and I use a lot of those

I use rich text for everything

My details are already in the layout, all I do is delete the ones Not used. I really don't want anyone scaling details, use dim's for that. For me it's so mush faster and better than any cad detail windows.

It's in the pull down railing wall section or the build/ railing& deck section.

There is already a wall in the deck section called "Straight deck edge" you can use and get 1 line.

Template plans have everything already there, so back it up. Lib's and Jobs are automatically backed up to Carbonite, and another back up with a mirror of the H.D.

Are you using old symbols? -update your lib. catalogs. You didn't say which version you came from so, not sure Check that the layers are on in that camera"s layer-set. Post the plan.

I use the lib. for all my cad details, better yet, they are already on the template layout and I don't have to import anything. I like it so far, but I can see why some people use the lib warehouse plan. To each there own.
