I am not sure you can do exactly what you are asking for. If you are using the ALDO and you can select an object on the layer you want to isolate, you can uncheck Show All Layers and only the layers relevant to that object will be listed. Be aware though that you may get more than one layer depending on how many layers that object is using. The Object Layer Properties tool (from the Edit toolbar) works in a similar way but will initially only show the used layers for a selected object - although you can then select to Show All Layers.

Best Way To Raise/Lower Entire 2 Story Building?
glennw replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Jon, That doesn't work for me. -
Your dimension problem is probably caused by the fact that the vertical wall on the left has its external layer on the inside of the mudroom while the other walls have their exterior on the outside of the mudroom.
-
Adam, The problem is caused by your Interior-4 wall definition. You have a 1/2" thick main wall layer - Color White as a main layer. Move that wall layer down and out of the main layers into the interior layers.

We could continue guessing or you could post the plan.

Sorry, but I can't agree with this one. I find the strength of SPVs is for navigating around the model in plan. If I am on the first floor and want to zoom in to the bathroom area on the second floor to some detailing, I can do that with a SPV. I may then want to go back down to the second floor and zoom into the kitchen area to add some notes. I can do this very easily with a SPV. The fact that I can send those views to layout if I want is a bonus.

Are you using a Leader Line with Rich Text? I can get what you describe if I use Disconnect Edges on the leader line once it is drawn. But as far as I know, you cant set Disconnect Edges and then choose the Leader Line tool - Choosing the Leader Line tool automatically toggles off Disconnect Edges. Or..are you using Text Line With Arrow, in which case the Connect CAD Segments toggled off, will result in what you describe with the arrows on each segment when you drag a multi segment line. Can you post back and describe exactly what tools you are using.

Or...Match Properties/Apply Properties using Door Handle Style. And there are probably even more ways.

I think you re asking the wrong question. Why not select all the cupboards and then change them all in one go.

OK, my library list gets a bit cut off the width, but not nearly as much as yours. I am on a mac which may make a difference.
-
Mick, Works OK for me. I assume you have the option turned on in Preferences (I am sure you have already checked that). Otherwise, I don't know.

Scott, Try shaking the cursor and it should get bigger! (a system preference that should be toggle on by default) There is a way, but there is a downside. Go System Preferences>Accessibility>Display>Cursor Size - increase the size if needed. This should change the general cursor size - even for Chief's toolbars and menus - but it will still be small in the Chief drawing area. Now, in Chief, goto Preferences> Preferences>Edit>Synchronise With Cursor - uncheck. The mouse pointer should now stay the same size as the general pointer when it is in the drawing area. Downside is that the cross hairs and pointer are not synchronised. The other way is to toggle off crosshairs which fixes the cursor size - but not much good if you want crosshairs! Maybe worth a bug report. You need a third party app to change to a custom cursor - you can't do it in the mac settings.

Can The Default Templates Folder Be Re-Directed?
glennw replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Larry, You could come at this from the other way. Why not use Chiefs default templates folder as your main custom templates storage folder. Move all of Chiefs standard template plans to another folder that you can navigate to when and if needed. -
Is There a Way To Change 'Doorway' Line Display?
glennw replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Try Hide Top Edge in the door dbx AND turning off the Opening Header Lines layer. -
Sometimes you need to create smaller rooms using invisible walls when you want your building to have different ceiling/floor heights over the one room.
-
I would suggest that you post the plan.
-
Try Option+left click. I have no idea why it was changed.

Open a 2nd Instance of Chief / Copying between layouts
glennw replied to bdammeyer's topic in General Q & A
Yes, it can. I am away for a couple of days and don’t have access to my Mac. Do a search and try and find the post. Or maybe Scott Hall will chime in as I think it was him who asked the question about the Mac. Or wait a day or so and I will post. -
Chad, Use a stacked molding and you can then apply different materials to each molding in the stack. This has all been covered in othwer pots in this thread.
