  1. Larry, Not true. Give it a try. You can see where the arc centre is - inside the building. The arc centre can be anywhere - inside the building or outside the building. Once you get your head around to thinking in terms that the dimension needs to be a radii it falls into place - any line or dimension that is perpendicular to the arc, is a radius. That, coupled with the fact that when you stretch a line or dimension that is not at an allowed angle, it will maintain it's angle even though it is not an allowed angle. I am not saying this is the best way - just another way - with no need for macros, make parallel, temp lines, etc.
  2. Rene, How would you make that line be perpendicular to the arc? Here is my method to make sure you actually get the dimension perpendicular to the arc:
  3. Renee, As far as I know, by default, windows and doors are on Drawing Group 25 - Opening. This includes the opening and it's label. ie, I don't think you can separate the opening from it's label - they will always have the same draw order.
  4. Rene, didn't you listen to what Dustin Said!!
  5. Just to be clear, as there seems to be some confusion. Roof Baseline polylines are a way of auto building the roofs without reference to the walls or the model (except for the first build of the polylines, which can then be edited). If you just turn off the Roofs, Baselines Polylines layer, the roof will still build according to the polyline. If you don't want to use the roof Baseline Polyline to build the roof, you need to delete it (or ignore it - see below) - it may be hard to select because it will overlay the walls. If you want to use the Roof Baseline Polyline, but not see the text, open the polyline's dbx, go to the Line Style Panel. Show Length controls the display of the roof pitch and roof type (ie, G for gable). Show Angle displays the cad line angle. You can ignore using the roof Baseline Polyline to auto build the roof. Open the Build Roof dbx, check Build Roof Planes, and uncheck Use Existing Roof Baselines. Having said that, in this case, you would probably just want to delete the Roof Baseline Polyline because it sounds like you built the Roof Baseline Polylines by mistake. Be aware that there is a difference between a Roof Baseline Polyline (which controls more than two roofs) and the more normally used Roof Baseline (which only controls a single roof plane).
  6. I am not sure you can do exactly what you are asking for. If you are using the ALDO and you can select an object on the layer you want to isolate, you can uncheck Show All Layers and only the layers relevant to that object will be listed. Be aware though that you may get more than one layer depending on how many layers that object is using. The Object Layer Properties tool (from the Edit toolbar) works in a similar way but will initially only show the used layers for a selected object - although you can then select to Show All Layers.
  7. Your dimension problem is probably caused by the fact that the vertical wall on the left has its external layer on the inside of the mudroom while the other walls have their exterior on the outside of the mudroom.
  8. Adam, The problem is caused by your Interior-4 wall definition. You have a 1/2" thick main wall layer - Color White as a main layer. Move that wall layer down and out of the main layers into the interior layers.
  9. We could continue guessing or you could post the plan.
  10. OK Scott, how did you do the 3D dimensions - X12?
  11. Railing Specification dbx>Newels/Balusters>Newels/Posts>Type>Library>Architectural>Millwork>Columns....
  12. Sorry, but I can't agree with this one. I find the strength of SPVs is for navigating around the model in plan. If I am on the first floor and want to zoom in to the bathroom area on the second floor to some detailing, I can do that with a SPV. I may then want to go back down to the second floor and zoom into the kitchen area to add some notes. I can do this very easily with a SPV. The fact that I can send those views to layout if I want is a bonus.
  13. Are you using a Leader Line with Rich Text? I can get what you describe if I use Disconnect Edges on the leader line once it is drawn. But as far as I know, you cant set Disconnect Edges and then choose the Leader Line tool - Choosing the Leader Line tool automatically toggles off Disconnect Edges. Or..are you using Text Line With Arrow, in which case the Connect CAD Segments toggled off, will result in what you describe with the arrows on each segment when you drag a multi segment line. Can you post back and describe exactly what tools you are using.
  14. Or...Match Properties/Apply Properties using Door Handle Style. And there are probably even more ways.
  15. Larry, Move up/move down is only available when you have 2 or more reference plans.
  16. I think you re asking the wrong question. Why not select all the cupboards and then change them all in one go.
  17. OK, my library list gets a bit cut off the width, but not nearly as much as yours. I am on a mac which may make a difference.
  18. Mick, Works OK for me. I assume you have the option turned on in Preferences (I am sure you have already checked that). Otherwise, I don't know.
  19. Scott, Try shaking the cursor and it should get bigger! (a system preference that should be toggle on by default) There is a way, but there is a downside. Go System Preferences>Accessibility>Display>Cursor Size - increase the size if needed. This should change the general cursor size - even for Chief's toolbars and menus - but it will still be small in the Chief drawing area. Now, in Chief, goto Preferences> Preferences>Edit>Synchronise With Cursor - uncheck. The mouse pointer should now stay the same size as the general pointer when it is in the drawing area. Downside is that the cross hairs and pointer are not synchronised. The other way is to toggle off crosshairs which fixes the cursor size - but not much good if you want crosshairs! Maybe worth a bug report. You need a third party app to change to a custom cursor - you can't do it in the mac settings.
  20. Larry, You could come at this from the other way. Why not use Chiefs default templates folder as your main custom templates storage folder. Move all of Chiefs standard template plans to another folder that you can navigate to when and if needed.
  21. Try Hide Top Edge in the door dbx AND turning off the Opening Header Lines layer.
  22. Sometimes you need to create smaller rooms using invisible walls when you want your building to have different ceiling/floor heights over the one room.
  23. I would suggest that you post the plan.
