  1. Chris, Wall Specification dbx>Foundation panel>Footing>Vertical Footing?
  2. I assume you are talking about the vertical centering. I don't know why that happens, but you can fix it with the margins. You can enter negative numbers for the margins to get it exactly as you want. Probably worth a bug report or at least ask Chief why it happens that way. I suspect it may be that the centering is correct if you use lower case letters instead of uppercase because Chief is accounting for descenders and ascenders - which aren't used for uppercase.
  3. I am not sure what Eric did, but there was already a terrain in the plan which did not allow me to generate another terrain. I guess he must have deleted the existing one.
  4. Your terrain is on a layer called BOUNDARY, so make sure that is toggled on in the camera view. Open the Terrain Specification dbx and change the Terrain Surface Smoothing to Medium or any one except Linear. It looks like the terrain needs some work.
  5. Eric, You reminded me of the Single Wall Hole option. If you mull the windows, uncheck Single Wall Hole and specify 2 trimmers, you get the same framing as I showed except that the casing displays are different.
  6. Set the Minimum Separation to what you want - and make sure it is large enough to accomodate the framing and Rough Opening size. Either turn of casings or make sure they are small enough to fit the Minimum Separation size. Set the Trimmer Count to zero - I think the thing that causes Chief the problems is it is trying to build both normal studs and trimmers as well in a confined space - so forget about the trimmers. You should get you close to what you want. These studs are 38mm wide with a 10mm Rough Opening (96mm). I am not sure what your header or trimmer requirements are, but any minor changes can be made manually.
  7. Rocky, This is standard behaviour. You can't change the length of a line by selecting the dimension. But...you can change the length of a wall by selecting it's dimension.
  8. You can't extrude a rectangle. Were you in a 3D view of floor plan?
  9. Neil, Do yourself a favour and build the roof auto. It is quicker to set it up for auto build than it is to alter the roofs manually.
  10. Draw a Face (Build>Primitive>Face). Select it and the Extrude button will appear on the Edit toolbar (along with Revolve Object). These a very powerful 3D tools. You can also Extrude faces that have been Exploded from an object like a Solid.
  11. Rockney, If you want to do a Skype session with me, I will run you through the basics. My Skype address is glenn-woodward
  12. Select the walls you want to total. On the Edit toolbar, select Components. This will give you a total length for each wall type in your selection.
  13. As per your other post. You could open a second instance of Chief to compare. or..do a screen capture and view or print
  14. Isn't that what Rotate Plan View does?
  15. That is easily fixed by using an Offset for the Newel/post.
  16. No mucking around with my one. No cheating. All straight forward settings in the wall dbx.
  17. No need for a pony wall. Use a Railing, Solid, Post To Beam. Define the wall without an external layer, only framed main layer and internal lining layer. Build framing. Something like this?
  18. I think that will only work if you use Perpendicular Extensions and have Endpoint snaps toggled on and Angle Snaps toggled off. You also need to create (and maintain while dragging) an extension anchor on the end of the wall before you drag a new wall - and you can't create an extension anchor at any point along the wall - only at snap points like Midpoint and Endpoint. It works, but is a bit more limiting than using an Allowed Angle You don't necessarily need to use the Same Wall Type grip - you can just drag a new wall - but as far as I can tell, you need Resize About set to Wall Center to avoid errors..
  19. Johnny, You can easily add an angle (or many angles) to the Allowed Angles. Use Edit Area to draw a small box around the Off Angle warning triangle, or if that has been deleted, draw the Edit Area box around the centre of the wall that has the angle you want to add to Allowed Angles. Click on the Allowed Angles tool on the Edit toolbar. You will see an Allowed Angles dbx giving you a couple of options. Check the Add 1 Entry option. This will add the angle and you will be able to snap to that angle and + and - 90deg. The above applies if you only select 1 off angle wall. You can also select multiple off angle walls and add them to Additional Angles. I don't seem to need the reciprocal angle on my machine. Of Course, if you only have a couple of items to draw or edit, Make Parallel comes in handy (Make Parallel also makes perpendicular).
  20. There are some in the Bonus Outdoor Sports and Recreation library that may be suitable. The only change I made to these was to change the backboard material to glass.
