  1. Inside info is a good way of putting it. We all know each other from years and years of conversations. We all have an idea of who's who as well, Joe in my mind is always the macro king and goes above and beyond in project analysis down in san diego(He's much more than my association with him but the thought is hard coded in my brain). DBCooper has a wealth of knowledge, seemingly rooted in the programs extensive help files, he is relatively new to me in terms of the forum but always points people in the right direction. You'll find over time there are a strong group of maybe 50 users that are extremely knowledgeable in the software. In terms of your dept head, from an outsiders perspective, this points to inexperience. If anyone has been in this business long enough, historical data kindve scoots over for built in experience based numbers...if we are counting stick by stick we are doing something wrong. Lead time is another story, I understand that much. With a little bit of time and effort, you can build the same ordering system in chief with a few caveats...I would argue that you could get to a purchase order faster in chief with a fully built library.
  2. This is me, please tag me so I get notifications or quote me...I just happened upon this while taking a break. Those menu items are ones I created myself by writing macros, they are not built in. I hand scripted the icons in place as well. Takes a bit of coding to set it all up. You can write your own macros using the built in recording function. Mine are a bit complicated in that I wrote in modifiers to gain an additional 3 functions per sqipe on the menus. Let me know if you need more info Current keybinds
  3. you may have a normal map, ao map, or roughness map plugged into the supporting maps, your screen clip doesnt show
  4. Brand new addition to the shop and already getting some rave reviews: Get it here: https://www.rabbittdesign.net/shop/p/rabs-closet-shelf-system Watch the vid
  5. Many different ways to do what you are asking in a sense but it depends on what your desired end result is. WHY are you trying to join rooms? is it for the room label? is it for an elevation camera you are trying to detail? Is it for a crown molding you are trying to continue? The why will give us an approach for answering you as this is an unusual request on its own
  6. Thank you very much to the people commenting here. I love hearing that people are loving the tools and I really love seeing photos of your projects @Steve_Matlaga For those that purchased the Pro Plan Template, please check your inbox, an update went out today with a few fixes and 6 new Slab-on-grade details that use the macro quick designation system
  7. POST 94 #freesymbolfriday is here for Chief Architect on The Rabbitt Design Feed Per a request on IG. An adjustable range hood. This comes as an architectural block. Simply explode the block and then adjust the molding line. This is set to start at 66" off the FF. There are 5 moldings applied to this molding line which can all be adjusted to suit your particular use case. Get it at rabbittdesign.net/symbols or direct at https://www.rabbittdesign.net/s/Rabs-Adjustable-Range-Hood.calibz Follow this link for the Rabbitt Design FB Feed for additional content: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3195137837435026/permalink/3207137419568401/ CLICK ME TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!!!
  8. copy/paste reflect about circle and replace text with a character space
  9. I personally never found room dimensions to be useful at all under any circumstances. Dimension the rooms. What happens when you have an L shaped room...it's just not useful in my opinion.
  10. is it really necessary to show the reveal? I would charge the client extra if that were the case. Off hand, easy way is to use material regions/backsplash tool to cut parent layer and set assembled thickness to an 1/8"

  12. Preface that I do not use the material list function. All objects/symbols have a component panel in its respective dialogue box that reports its accounting code. You would need to open each component and change its accounting code and then set that object to default, such as walls, and then save this to a template or library. It would probably be easier with framing for instance to have all framing report to a custom schedule whose columns are limited to only one column "Code" and then choose open row object and drop in the macro %accounting_code% in the code designation of the OIP So that it reports the accounting code to the code column in the master material list or you can simply past =accounting_code in the code column of your material list or type in your own codes.
  13. I do this type of work all of the time, bid only, my hour is much shorter than most. here is a link to my offering services thread. I am a known technician within the community. Thanks for your consideration.
  14. Willing to travel and have a 120-150" 4K projector for sessions. Your 20 year users will gain knowledge from sessions as is my experience with others of this level of experience. Same as your intermediate and beginner. My suite of assets and tools can cut down drafting times drastically and I maintain systems for file redundancy and cloud based project management as well. Cost for in person is substantially higher per hour so I encourage a week long trip for such things. I can also train via Streamyard So you know, there is a significant training event happening in Feb that I will be teaching at power user level as well as my partners teaching at intermediate to advanced. That event is here: https://www.chiefexpertsacademy.com/chief-architect-outer-banks-nc-total-immersion-by-chief-experts-2023
  15. Board and batten is best when using the material region tool as a trick. Serious rendering artists are not going to use a texture for board and batten unless the composition is from very far away. BTW I already have several high quality siding textures that I give away here on the forums in the symbols and content section or direct from my website in the free stuff section. Your template scene does not need grass to be applied FYI, I personally would prefer it if it weren't and instead was erased but still in the container tree so that we could apply it. Should be applied as the skatter tool instead of the painter tools. I do go over this several times in various twinmotion live videos on my youtube
  16. Because of its ties to unreal 5. The industry is moving in this direction as a whole and unreal has widespread use, much broader than Lumion. Also ease of use and continued developments. Twinmotion produced a pathtracer 2 full quarters sooner than lumion for instance. Another reason, integration with quixel megascans and sketchfab. and one more, twinmotion ships free with autodesk products now and utilizes the datasmith plugin.
  17. Yes keep it up, templating is a good approach I saw the video working on the hillside, the building itself still lacks the secondary maps that would make it realistic. Also noticed you aren't using the pathtracer...I would suggest that you start to build out materials with supporting maps to save to your twinmotion library, and also consider using scene backdrops so you arent flooding the background with trees to hide the undeveloped terrain..this is the purpose of the scene backdrop. This scene for instance only uses two trees, the background is a spherical HDRI You can see it clearly with these two, two totally different HDRI's
  18. You are getting this look because you are not using supportive maps in twinmotion, such as normal/roughness/displacement/metal maps. I would also suggest using generated grass as opposed to a grass texture
  19. This is true, as you are introducing new light sources..just like a camera you would need to play with settings to achieve your desired effect. You would need to put them in a container and save the container. You can also save painter groups which is what I wouldve been using to generate the tree line
  20. You can generate your own HDR skydomes so that you dont need to change the weather to generate clouds if you want them. You can also save different tree arrangements to your library
  21. I have some videos on my youtube about working on the same plan at the same time. It is doable, I've done this with @rgardner before
